A FRESH START

A lot of people make a big deal out of the New Year, saying it’s a chance to make a fresh start, and fix those bad habits that have hung on so long, or fix a broken relationship, or start some other good thing.  And yes, that’s as good as any time to do so, but what they don’t realize is, every breath you take is a chance to make a fresh start.  You don’t have to wait till New Year to do it. THERE IS A SEASON FOR EVERYTHING

Being this is the last day of 2021, this will be my last weekly writing for the year.  Looking back, and considering the whole year, has it been good or evil?  For many it has not been a good year at all with sickness, jobs lost, businesses closed, people dying, and yet it has not altogether been a bad year for everyone.  We all have good days and bad days, just like there are seasons in the year, one season goes, and another comes. Nothing is permanent.  That is, except for our relationship with God. Continue Reading »

THE HIGH CALLING OF CHRIST

Sometimes it is necessary to remind oneself that salvation is not a matter of religious observance of rituals or laws, or self-righteous denial of foods or drink, but it is ONLY the result of what Christ Jesus did on the cross. Continue Reading »

DO YOU PICK AND CHOOSE?

I’ve been to very few churches who teach from the whole Bible, cover to cover.  Most all of them pick and choose what to major in, and most times they end up “majoring in the minors”.  One denomination is big on salvation. Another on gifts of the Spirit. Another on speaking in tongues, while another majors on prophecy.  There are as many denominations as there are pages in the Bible it seems.  And yet the ENTIRE Bible is telling us of the very nature of God and instructs us in how to follow Him. THE BLAME GAME

Have you ever noticed how people don’t want to accept responsibility for their actions?  They want to blame “someone else” for their decisions, so that “someone else” reaps the consequences.  And it’s nothing new.  As far as I can see, it’s been going on ever since the Garden of Eden, and we can pick it up in Genesis 3:1, Continue Reading »

COME IN WHILE THE DOOR IS OPEN

Today I’d like to teach out of John chapter 14 beginning in verse 1.  Though the world we live in today is much different than the one the early disciples lived in, many things remain the same, like fear and worry and uncertainty, and the Lord Jesus wanted to assure His own that He was not going to ever abandon them.  So what’s the first thing He tells them? Continue Reading »

WAITING AT HIS GATE

Proverbs is always a good place to seek wisdom, and today, the scriptures I’ll us is from Proverbs 8:34-35,

34  Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

35  For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.  Continue Reading »

WATCHING AND PRAYING

WATCHING AND PRAYING

By Jerry Baysinger

The Lord Jesus told us in Luke 21:8-36 about things in the latter days that we would see going on around us, for us to be aware of them, but not to be in fear.  Man’s nature is to worry about that which he cannot control, and it’s a very powerful instinct to try to overcome. Continue Reading »

WORKING THE WORD

The Holy Bible is full of promises to us, but unless we put them to use, they are only words on a page.  I have an old Tee shirt that says, “The Word works wonders when the workman works the Word”.  The exact opposite is true as well, if we don’t work the Word of God, it produces no wonders for us.  The first wonder the Word will work for us is salvation, IF WE WORK THE WORD. LOVE COVERS ALL SINS

It is written in Proverbs 10:12,  Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

There certainly doesn’t seem to be a shortage of hatred these days, and everyone is quick to blame someone else when things go wrong.  BUT LOVE COVERETH ALL SINS.  That’s my sins, as well as anyone else who asks for their sins to be covered. Continue Reading »
