It is written in Proverbs 10:12,  Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

There certainly doesn’t seem to be a shortage of hatred these days, and everyone is quick to blame someone else when things go wrong.  BUT LOVE COVERETH ALL SINS.  That’s my sins, as well as anyone else who asks for their sins to be covered.

This has been a hard week for me, my son James was killed in a motorcycle wreck Tuesday.  The other driver made a left turn right in front of my son’s motorcycle, and he died as a result. It would be easy to be bitter, as the accident was totally avoidable.  But I hear in my spirit, BUT LOVE COVERETH ALL SINS.  Many have called me and asked why I hadn’t posted about it, and it’s because of what the LORD told me.  Others have enough problems on their plate without hearing about MY problems.  I’m here to teach and encourage people to seek God, not whine about my troubles.  Some think I never have any problems.  I never said I don’t have problems. I just tell people, the LORD takes good care of me, and leave it at that.

Right now I’m thinking of the other driver, how she must feel, and I’ve prayed for her, though I haven’t spoken with her.  I’m praying about my son’s family, how they must now go on, his wife without her husband, and their sons without their father. He was only 46, with so much more to do in life.  The hardest time to cover someone’s sins is when it hurts you the most.  But here’s something maybe some of us haven’t thought about.

How about OUR sins against God?  Don’t you think He has feelings, too?  All the day long He stretches out His arms to us in love, to gather us unto Himself as a hen would gather her chicks, in fact the Lord Jesus spoke of this very thing in Matthew 23:37,

37  O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

It seems we all have something more important to do that spend our time seeking the LORD.  And what is so tragic?  Many will seek “other stuff” to their dying breath, and never get to know the LORD and His love, to have their sins covered in the blood of Christ Jesus.  There’s nothing I know that is more tragic than that.

The second most tragic thing I know, is to know the LORD, and not share Him with those we come in contact with.  People have their excuses why they don’t.  I ask myself, WHAT’S MY EXCUSE IF I DON’T TELL OTHERS ABOUT JESUS?  HOW WILL I GIVE ACCOUNT FOR THAT TO THE FATHER?

AND WHAT WILL YOU TELL HIM?

It is written in Luke 14:16-24,

16  Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:

17  And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.

18  And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.

19  And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.

20  And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

21  So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.

22  And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.

23  And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

24  For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

Here’s something I’ve NEVER heard anyone preach, so I will preach it.  As it is written in Proverbs 10:12, Hatred stirreth up strifes; but love covereth all sins.  But the one sin that love doesn’t cover is rejecting the love of God. Read that again, BUT THE ONE SIN THAT LOVE DOESN’T COVER IS REJECTING THE LOVE OF GOD!

We are all invited to the greatest feast of all times, to know Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior, but so many give an excuse why they won’t come.  And still others make excuses why they’re not inviting people to come to know Christ Jesus.  There are as many excuses as there are grains of sand on the beach, but none of them will hold water in the day of judgment.

God’s love will cover all your sins, past, present and future if you ask and repent of your sins, that is, stop doing them and do that which is right.  But the one sin you can never be forgiven of is refusing the sacrifice Christ Jesus, Y’shua Messiah, made for you.  Once you’ve drawn your last breath, if by then He isn’t your Lord and Savior, there’s no “do over”.  There’s no second chance to be saved.  The only thing left for those who refuse His love is judgment, and it won’t be everlasting life.

I’ve heard enough hellfire and brimstone sermons that I know for a fact, if that scares you into receiving Christ Jesus, then you’ll never truly love Him, and you’ll never get to know the real reason why you need to be saved.  You need to know the One who IS love, because He is love.  He isn’t a hard hearted God sitting on a cloud with a fly swatter, just waiting to SMACK you!  He is a God who loves you so much, it hurts His heart if you aren’t one of His children.  He loves you so much, He left heaven to die the most agonizing death that evil mankind could come up with, in order to pay for your sins, and rose again to be your Savior.  How could He love us so?  I really don’t know, it’s so far above my pay scale, I can’t even imagine.

But the Bible tells us it’s true, and the greatest gift ever given to mankind is the opportunity to have our sins forgiven and be born again to everlasting life.  That love so pours over into our lives, that we are able to forgive others even the deepest hurts, and pour God’s love into the lives of those who are hurting.

Today, even as I grieve the death of my son, love covereth all sins.  His love covers all my sins.  Because of God’s unfathomable love, the very least I can do is cover the sins of those who have hurt me.  We should all do that, for God is worthy of all our adoration, worship, and praise, for He first did it for us!  God’s love is so good!   Amen?
