PASSOVER

Today my subject is the Passover. I’ll be using a lot of scripture here. It is written in Exodus 12:21-34,

21  Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover.

22  And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.

23  For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.

24  And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.

WHEN YOU THINK OF ME

As I was returning home today, I asked the LORD what I am to write about in my newsletter. He quickly answered, “When you think of Me”. That almost strikes me as a question, as in, “When I think of the LORD, what are my thoughts?”

BE OF GOOD CHEER

We look around and it’s not unusual to be saddened by the state the world is getting in. After all, we were created by God with five senses; sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste. We were created to be in touch with all our environment. So when things are going badly in the world, it affects us. Just as a warm, sunny day makes us cheerful, a gloomy, rainy day makes us sad. God knew when He made us that we would be affected by our senses.

WHY FORGIVE?

Each and every day we are given an opportunity to be offended. And what we do with that opportunity defines who we are. Some people get offended at every little thing. Of course, it’s always the other person’s fault for causing the offense. But what if I told you it was YOUR fault? Would you be offended?

AND YOU CAN HAVE IT FOR FREE

I just got off the phone with a telemarketer, wanting to give me a two week vacation in the Bahamas. And he said, “and you can have it for FREE!”. Yeah, right, what’s the catch? You see, when you’re dealing with the world, there’s ALWAYS a catch. Well, the catch is, you have to do so many presentations per day of their product while you’re there, and if you sell the required number of product, your trip is free. Less airfare, meals, hotels, local taxes and gratuities, of course. Thank you, but I’ll pass…..

FOR GOD SO LOVED

It is written in John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Let me ask you a question; exactly what does that verse mean to you?

THE CROSS IS THE KEY

We have heard countless sermons about the cross of Jesus.  I had a dream years ago of a vision of the cross, but it also looked like a key, and I realized the LORD was showing me something very encouraging.  And He brought it back to my attention today. I’m going to make one to wear around my neck. The cross is the KEY to your freedom.  Freedom from WHAT?  The cross is what got Jesus to the place where He purchased your freedom from sin and disease and all the devil’s junk. Continue Reading »

TELL ME THE WHOLE GOSPEL, NOT JUST PART

Let’s say you are a jigsaw puzzle fan, would you want to buy a puzzle with some of the pieces gone?  No?  why not?  Well, you’d want the whole picture, right?  And if some of the pieces of the puzzle are gone, you don’t have the whole picture when you’re done putting it together. But yet, we seem to be satisfied to go to church and hear part of the Gospel week after week.  Sure, I know you can’t preach the whole Gospel in one sermon.  But in the space of weeks, you can.  So then why are so many Christians missing so many pieces of the puzzle? FREEDOM ISN’T FREE

During the month of July, the United States celebrates FREEDOM.  But before you can celebrate “freedom”, you must first know what it is.  Freedom is defined as: “the power to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint, the absence of subjection, and the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.” Well, everyone wants to be free, right?  But whose freedoms are being taken away by us exercising OUR freedom? OLD HABITS DIE HARD

At the beginning of the New Year I took the opportunity of the time to remind you that you are a new creation if you are indeed in Christ Jesus.  New Year is looked upon as a chance for a fresh, new start, to do things better this year than we did last year. There needs to be more teaching about the “new creature”, because the “old creature” sure doesn’t go away easily. Continue Reading »
