As I was returning home today, I asked the LORD what I am to write about in my newsletter. He quickly answered, “When you think of Me”. That almost strikes me as a question, as in, “When I think of the LORD, what are my thoughts?”

There is a verse in Isaiah 26:3 that comes to mind here: Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
Perfect peace….When my thoughts are on the LORD, I am at peace…PERFECT peace. Yes, in the world we have problems, and the Bible tells us it will be so. But it is written in 1 John 4:4, Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

What does that mean to you? To me, it means no matter how big the problem I am facing, God is bigger, and has the solution that is so perfect, that I need not worry at all. Again, PERFECT PEACE. God will keep him (or her) in perfect peace whose mind is STAYED on Him. Note that word “STAYED”. That indicates a permanent placement, a dwelling place, an abode, NOT a “drive through”, or a temporary state. Why would your heart be STAYED on the LORD? Because you TRUST in Him.

Remember when you were a little child? You didn’t have a care in the world. You didn’t have to worry where you were going to sleep, or where your next meal was coming from. I bet you never even gave it a thought, did you? You could concentrate on playing and having a good time, because making a living wasn’t your job yet. Well, even in this “grown up” world, in which you have found yourself thrust, you can STILL live without a care in the world. How?? Glad you asked! Let’s examine Isaiah 26:3 again! Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

What’s the first word in that verse? THOU. That means it isn’t YOUR job to keep you in perfect peace, it’s GOD’S JOB!  GOD will keep YOU in perfect peace, IF your mind is stayed on Him. That means, your welfare is way beyond your pay grade to be concerned with. Yes, that’s right, you being able to control circumstances to cause you to live in perfect peace is not in YOUR job description. Sorry to burst your bubble, but that’s not your calling. You may have been taught to THINK it is, but it isn’t. There are things WE are supposed to do, and there are things only GOD can do. YOUR job is to simply trust God CONTINUALLY, to keep your mind on HIM. That’s all, nothing more. HIS job is to keep you in perfect peace. Simple, huh?

Then why do we have so much trouble doing it? Because we think its OUR job to provide for our families, to strive to climb up the ladder to success, to chase the income we need to meet our needs. We’ve been doing it all wrong, for a very long time. Or at least YOU have been. I figured it out a long time ago that all I have to do is place my life in the LORD’S hands, and He will take care of me FAR better than I could ever hope to take care of myself.

When I learned that simple truth years ago, it freed me up to be like a kid again, that is, not having a care in the world. Some call that “irresponsible”. I call it “freedom”, just like when I was a little kid. I didn’t worry about coming up with a place to live, or what to eat, or any of that “grown up” stuff that grown ups stewed over. All kids need to do is “be kids” and not worry.

People were bringing their kids to Jesus for a blessing, and his disciples were trying to prevent them, because they didn’t see the value of child-like faith. Jesus said in Mark 10:14-16,
13 And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

Take careful note of verse 15: Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

Here’s the whole thing in a nutshell: go back to being a little child, whose innocence lets you put your trust in God fully, for no other reason than He told you He would take care of you. If you teach a little child that the sky is green with purple stripes, he will fight any kid who tries to tell him differently, because he believes his parents, without a doubt in the world. Well, it’s time for you to go back to trusting GOD for all your needs, and quit trying to do the job yourself. LET GOD BE GOD! And let YOU be His beloved little child. You aren’t qualified to do God’s job for Him, anyway, so why are you trying to?

He has a far better plan for your life than you could possibly come up with. And not only does He have the plan, He has the resources to back up that plan. DON’T WORRY! BE HAPPY!
So, when I think of God, that’s what I’m thinking. I don’t have a care in the world. Perfect peace! How about YOU? If you aren’t living in perfect peace, then your mind isn’t stayed on the right thing.  Change your mind, change your life. Keep your mind stayed on God!
