NO FEAR LIVES HERE

If I ask you what the opposite of hot is, you would reply cold.  But actually, cold is just the lack of heat.  If I ask you the opposite of light, you would reply dark.  Yet dark is not opposite, it just lacks light. So if I ask what the opposite of faith is, what would you reply? Think about it. Continue Reading »

LET THE SON SHINE IN

For the most part, people don’t care for dreary days, but rather prefer the sunshine.  Yes, there are those who like dreary rainy days, but I’m talking about the majority of people.  And there are what I’d call “sunny” dispositions as well as “dreary”, and we all know those of both types.  Which kind would YOU rather be around? If you could have one wish granted, what would it be?  Think carefully about it, because it’s important.  Anything at all; what would you wish for; riches, long life, happiness, fame, possessions, true love?  With the Christmas season coming up, many people are out shopping for presents for their family and friends.  What do you suppose those you are considering gifts for are wishing they could receive this Christmas?

WHAT IS FAITH FOR?

The Bible tells us in Hebrews 11:5-6 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Therefore, faith is real high on God’s list of things that He wants mankind to have.  Faith is the key that opens the door to most of God’s promises, probably being only second to “obedience”.  Of course, having faith is part of obedience.  But what is faith for?  Let’s explore that today. HOPE, OR BELIEVE?

Which do we need to do when we want to receive something from God; hope, or believe?

It is written in Proverbs 13:12, Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. Men often hope for this or that, but that doesn’t mean they are going to get what they hope for.  “Hope deferred”, means hope put off for another time or delayed or set aside.  When we want or need something, the last thing we want is for it to be put off or set aside. We want it, and when do we want it? NOW.  Well, the verse goes on to say that when that which was hoped for comes, it is a tree of life, in other words, it takes away the sadness.  Some people spend their lives hoping for this or that, and sometimes they get what they hope for, but more times than not, they don’t. YOUR PARDON IS PAID FOR

Many who call themselves Christians live in opposition to what the Holy Bible says.  Now, I’m not talking about behavior here, but rather what they believe.  Of course, what you believe WILL affect your behavior, but for now let’s focus on the “believe” part. Let’s start with Isaiah 53:1-6;
Isa 53:1  Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? Continue Reading »

GOD’S AMAZING GRACE

Sometimes I get comments on our website from people who don’t want anything to do with God whatsoever.  Knowing He is a just God, you would think He would just zap them and be done with them, but that isn’t His nature at all.  I guess His idea of justice must be different than that of mankind.  In the old days and still today, if a ruler established himself over a group of people or a nation, if they despised him, the ruler would just have those people executed and they were out of his hair for good.  And yet, though many even in our nation, the USA, are trying to remove every reference to God in our society, God is still patient and merciful with them, even though He would be just in destroying them.  Why?  Because He is not willing that any should perish, but that all come to repentance.  You talk about MERCY!  Would a dictator have that attitude toward those who don’t want to serve and love him?  Absolutely NOT!  That’s why I put my trust in God, and not in people. NO MORE SACRIFICE FOR SIN

Some who have received Christ Jesus as LORD and Savior at some point in their life have given up on that relationship, feeling their less than perfect walk with the Lord Jesus has cost them their salvation. On the surface, after reading Hebrews chapter 10, most would believe if you sin, even once, knowingly after receiving Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you’re out of God’s Kingdom. Not, three strikes and you’re out, but ONE strike and you’re out! I agonized for years over that chapter because I haven’t led a perfect life since being saved, and chances are you haven’t either. KEEPING THE FAITH DILIGENTLY

We often hear say “Keep the faith”.  And that’s good!  But what faith are we keeping?  It is written in Jude 1:3, Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

As we all know, things often change, and nothing stays the same.  Some things change for good, some not so good, and some go really bad.  But some things should NEVER change, and one of them is the faith that was once delivered unto the saints.  You should be able to go in any church anywhere in the world and the doctrine should be exactly the same.  Yet it isn’t.  Why not?  Because for one reason or another, the doctrines of faith once delivered unto the saints has changed.  NO!!  Say it isn’t so!  Sorry, but they have.  Now what are we to do? YOU HAVE A LAWYER

The book of First, Second, and Third John was not written to the world of unbelievers, but to the CHURCH!  1 John 1:8-9 says, If we say we have  no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Many use this part of the prayer to lead people to salvation, but it was written to those who have already received Christ Jesus. Continue Reading »
