THE LAST EXCUSE

   What was the last excuse you gave for not spending more time with God this past year?  Perhaps you were too busy?  Doing what?  Well, if you’re like most people, you were busy just making a living, paying bills, putting food on the table, and so on.  If anyone has an excuse for being “too busy”, it would have to be God, for His responsibility is to keep the entire universe in order.  Yet, have you ever prayed to God and heard, “Leave a message, I’ll get back to you later.”?  We often tell people we will get back with them later, but fail to do so.  I’ve done it, and my guess is, you have too.  It’s not that we mean to put people off, but as we all know, there are only twenty four hours in a day, and we’re ……busy! A GARMENT WITHOUT SEAM

   This is the time of Christmas, when people all over the world exchange gifts.  The greatest gift ever given the world’s people was given by God himself, His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus, that the world through Him might be saved, and not condemned.  Today I’d like to talk about Jesus’ coat.  This might seem an odd subject for a Christmas message, but it’s what the Lord gave me.  We read the following in John 19:23: Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout. THE EDGE OF LAWLESSNESS

   The title the Lord gave me for this article may seem a bit odd to you, but read on, and it will show you His heart toward you.  This title came to me the other day as I was driving past a speed limit sign.  The posted speed limit was 70 mph, and I had my cruise control sitting right on 70.  The Lord spoke clearly to my spirit these words: If you’re going the speed limit, you’re on the very edge of lawlessness. THE EFFECTUAL FERVENT PRAYER

   Today I’d like to explore the subject of “effectual fervent prayer”.  It is written in James 5:16-20:
 Jas 5:16  Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Jas 5:17  Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
Jas 5:18  And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
Jas 5:19  Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
Jas 5:20  Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

WHY BELIEVE A LIE?

   The third chapter of Second Timothy paints a shockingly accurate picture of society at large today.  As we all know, society changes over time as people go from one trend to another.  For example, the breakdown of morals didn’t just happen in this generation; it has been sneaking up on us for many generations.  Those living in the past probably thought their generation was as morally bankrupt as it was possible to get, and that it couldn’t get any worse. But the next generation came along and proved them wrong.  Again. Continue Reading »
