Even from children, we have been told that God watches over us, and is aware of everything in our lives.  Recent pictures that have been sent to earth from satellites in deep space makes it even more amazing how God could be aware of us, a tiny orb in space among billions.  Pictures taken from the Hubble telescope showed galaxies so far away that no telescope on earth can see them.  And the farther out we see, the more galaxies there are, with no end in sight.  I’ve often wondered, is there a fence at the end of the universe?
Being able to visualize a God who is able to know everything about our earth and everyone on it would be staggering enough if we were the only planet in the universe.  But multiplied by untold billions of planets that are now revealed by modern science is absolutely mind boggling. Suddenly the magnitude of the presence of God in the universe becomes overwhelming.  Everywhere the galaxies are in their orbits, in perfect order, you don’t see them colliding with one another.  While on earth we see many things in chaos due to sin, perfect order seems to be the way God intended things to be.  And that’s the way God created the heavens and the earth in the beginning.  When the Lord was finished with creation, He looked upon it, and behold, it was very good.
And then the devil had to come along and mess everything up.  He tried it first in heaven by turning a third of the angels against God, trying to set himself up as the King of heaven.  Satan was cast out of heaven onto the earth where he set up shop immediately to turn the earth to chaos.  When he entered the Garden of Eden and deceived Eve into eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, things turned ugly real fast.  Suddenly the good life that Adam and Eve had enjoyed under God’s order was disrupted, and the earth came under a curse because of their disobedience to God’s word.  Adam and Eve were cast out of the Garden of Eden, just as Satan had been cast out of heaven.  The devil probably thought he had succeeded in ruining everything for mankind.  But, he was wrong before, and he was wrong this time too.
God had a plan to return things to their former glory as He had originally created them, and part of that plan obviously was to return mankind to the glory he once enjoyed as a child of God.  For thousands of years since the Garden of Eden, mankind has suffered one thing after another, poverty, strife, warfare, sickness, while God has been working to end the suffering on earth.  It still takes the same thing today as it did thousands of years ago in the Garden of Eden, in order to live in the blessings of God, and that is TRUST and OBEDIENCE.
Most of us have heard the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God who came to earth and gave Himself as the payment for our continual disobedience to God.  Many think that’s where it ended.  No, that’s where the way back to God’s perfect order began.  It continues today through the preaching of the Gospel to all who will hear and obey.
And those who obey are seeing their lives turned around for good.  Oh, it isn’t a “wave a magic wand” kind of change, but a gradual change from darkness to light.  We’ve been used to living in darkness, and just as moving into the light causes us to squint our eyes, living in disobedience to God, then moving into obedience sometimes makes the readjustment difficult.  Adding to that, the road leading from where we left the kingdom of darkness heading toward the place where we’re changed from “glory to glory” into the image of Christ Jesus is filled with potholes and detours, courtesy of Satan.  One thing the devil does best is lying, and trying to convince us that we’re on our own here on earth, without the hand of God being involved in our day-to-day affairs.
One only has to look up into the sky at night to see that God has not forsaken His creation.  Every star is in its perfect place, the sky is not falling down around us.  God is acutely aware of every detail of our lives, the things we need, and He supplies them.  Although the Bible says in Matthew 5:45,,”…..For He maketh His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust”, God has special blessings for those who love Him.  There is a story in Matthew 17:24-26 that makes my point:
And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?
Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.
Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

Just about the time we think God has more important things to do than be concerned how we will pay our taxes, He proves that He doesn’t.  Think about the scope of things here: On this little speck of dust called Earth, out of the entire universe, God was not only aware of the need of the disciples to pay their taxes, He already had the money laid up for them on the bottom of the sea.  Proverbs 13:22 says A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. And, He had a fish that knew where that money was who could count how much he needed, and if that wasn’t enough, that fish knew which hook was Peter’s.  How do you suppose God worked all that out?  Don’t know??? That’s why He is God and you aren’t.  He said even a sparrow doesn’t fall from the sky without His knowledge.  And you have worries?  WHY???
God looks at us up close and personal.  How can that be?  I don’t know, being I’m not God.  And that’s the point. It’s not my job to, it’s HIS!!  You see, our view of things is really small when compared to the vastness of the universe.  If you would pick up a single grain of sand from a beach and call it the Earth, you would not even then be able to compare that to the number of stars that fill the heavens, and yet the Lord created them all, and knows each by name.  Shoot, I can’t even name all the kids in my high school class, let alone know every detail of every person’s life who ever lived on the earth.  But God does, and still with all that going on, maintains order in all the creation, in spite of Satan’s best (or worst) efforts to stop him.  Great Big God, little bitty devil…..
The next time you’re feeling low, wondering how in the world God will bring you through the situation you’re facing, remember all the ones He has already brought you through.  Then, enlarging your view a little beyond yourself, consider all the trials He has brought others through that you know.  It’s time you stopped looking at how big your problems are, and start looking at how big God is.  When David stood up to fight Goliath with only a slingshot and a stone in his hand, the Armies of Israel cowered, considering Goliath too big to defeat.  David considered him too big a target to miss.
David knew God was always good for His word.  Abraham did, too.  And most importantly, so did Jesus.  Whatever you face in life, God has a promise to you concerning how He will deliver you.  It’s up to you to get in the Bible and dig like you are mining for gold.  And believe me, if you’re desperate enough, you’ll dig, just like I did.  And God promises that if you seek Him with your whole heart, you’ll find Him.  It’s worth whatever effort you put into it.  I know God has me covered.  Let me make it easy for you; if you trust and obey God, He has you covered, no matter what.
