There’s a lot of hunger in the world, and always has been. Not that there needs to be hunger from not having enough to eat, but that’s caused by mankind’s greed. There is enough food in the world that nobody needs to go hungry. But that’s only ONE kind of hunger. Some people are hungry for money, and they can never get “enough”. Some are hungry for power, and they can’t get enough, either. Because of the fallen nature of mankind, greed has taken center stage in society, and the cure for that is ANOTHER kind of hunger: that being hunger for the Word of God.

How hungry are YOU for the Word of God? That’s a fair question, that is easily answered. We all have 24 hours in our day, so how much time do YOU spend in God’s Word? The answer to that will reveal how hungry you are for God. Most people feed their physical body every day, but do they feed their SPIRITUAL body? Or are they starving it to death?

When a carpenter builds a home, he or she uses a ruler to measure every piece that goes into it, in order that when it’s all done it IS a house, and not a hodge-podge of mismatched boards. And a machinist uses a micrometer or caliper to properly measure what is being made. But how do we measure our relationship with God? Your watch is a pretty good indicator, how much time you put into your relationship with God will determine what you will get out of it.

A couple hours a week or a month doesn’t show God you’re serious about pursuing Him. Some THINK they are “God chasers” if they go to church every week. Well what about the rest of the week? I’m not trying to condemn anyone, but I AM trying to get you to take an honest look at how much time you’re investing in the Kingdom of God! I won’t have to give account for you or anyone else, only for myself. But if you have thoughts of life everlasting with God, I’d seriously recommend you start acting like it!

There have been more nights than I can count that I’ve gotten up in the middle of the night and spent 2 or 3 hours in God’s Word. Why? Because He is precious to me and I want to know Him!

Maybe He isn’t that precious to you, and that’s your business, but I’m hungry for God, even more than I am for physical food and drink. This life is the ONLY opportunity I will ever have to get to know the One who died on the cross so my sins could be forgiven. This is my ONLY opportunity to seek God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. Once this life is over, eternity begins for you and me. Where we spend that eternity will be determined by how we spend our time NOW in this life.

The scariest words in the whole Bible are found in Matthew 7:13-27;
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

My friend, it isn’t about going up to the altar and saying the “sinner’s prayer” or joining a church somewhere. It’s about a rock-solid RELATIONSHIP with God that is built hour by hour, day by day, week by week, year by year. You see in these verses there are MANY that prophesied in God’s name, cast out devils, and did many wonderful works, and yet Jesus will say to them, “I NEVER KNEW YOU!” Why didn’t He know them? Because THEY considered their time was better spent doing what the rest of the world does, instead of with Him.

I’ll leave it right here. You know what to do, you don’t need me to tell you. If you’re hungry for God and you know it, SPEND TIME WITH HIM! And if you’re not, you won’t, simple as that. I pray God instills a deep hunger for Him in you!
