BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL

I’d like to show you how prayer, praise, and blessings are all connected. We all like blessings, right? Let’s take time to explore the very nature of God. Most of us have heard the fire and brimstone sermons about the judgment of God, right? Unfortunately, I heard about that side of God many years before I heard about His loving nature. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that nobody wants to pray to an angry God who they think is out to make everyone a crispy critter. Needless to say, that wouldn’t make anyone want to praise Him, either, unless it was simply out of fear of being sent to hell. And yet, that is the god I was first introduced to.

RETURN TO SENDER

Are you one of those who says, “I can’t understand why God doesn’t answer my prayers”? Well, if you are, this is likely the reason why. If you put a letter in the mail with no stamp on it, the Post Office will stamp on it “Return To Sender”. Many business envelopes you get in the mail have a return envelope. Some say they’re postage paid, but most say, “Affix stamp here, the Post Office will not deliver mail without proper postage.” Yeah, yeah, I know, God is not the Post Office. But read on: Continue Reading »

WISDOM

The book of Proverbs is a book of wisdom, and there is a proverb for each day of the month.  I like to read a proverb each night before going to bed and fall asleep meditating on it. The world teaches us to seek money and possessions, but the Bible tells us to seek wisdom.  Who is the source of all wisdom?  That has to be God, and He wants to impart wisdom to us. I’ve often said, wisdom enables us to recognize a mistake when we make it again.  And the biggest mistake I see people make is not believing what is written in the Bible. Continue Reading »

REMINDERS ARE GOOD!

As we each go through our daily lives, some of those days are good, and some are NOT so good.  It serves us well to be reminded of one simple truth in Psalm 100:5:
Psa 100:5  For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
Of course, when things are going good, we are happy and praising God, but how about when things are NOT going good, are we remembering that God never changes, regardless of our circumstances?  Are we still praising Him, even when it seems He went on vacation and left no forwarding address?

FROM NOW TILL NEVER

Why do we pray?  What do we hope to accomplish by doing so?  Well, it would seem to me that we are trying to change a circumstance that we otherwise have no control over.  There are things we can do in the physical realm to change some circumstances, but there are others that are totally out of our control that only God can change, so we pray.  It may concern sickness or disease, or family troubles, or legal troubles, or finances; you name it, somebody is not happy about it and wants it changed. But wanting something to be different, and actually seeing it done is two different things, as we all know. Continue Reading »

SELDOM EARLY, BUT NEVER LATE

Most of us know people who are always late for appointments, and I don’t know about you, but it kind of irks me when that happens.  It seems they are only about themselves and have no regard for the inconvenience they cause others. But what about GOD when HE seems to be late showing up? Continue Reading »

I BELIEVE

There is a sign in my friend’s home that says “Hope…anything is possible”. And hope is a good thing, because without hope, there is no reason to believe.  But yet the Lord Jesus said in Mark 9:23, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. Indeed, the sign in my friend’s home is accurate, BUT, consider this:  “anything is possible” , which can include “nothing” will happen.  If the Lord Jesus had wanted us to rely on HOPE, He would have said, “If thou canst hope, all things are possible to him that hopeth. But He didn’t, did He? Continue Reading »

WHEN YE PRAY…..BELIEVE !!!

We all know that prayer is essential to our relationship with God.  But is God satisfied with any old prayer we choose to throw out there?  Or is there a kind that gets God’s attention?  Nobody wants their prayers to be wasted, least of all God.  He wants to have answers to our prayers, and He tells us exactly how to make that happen.  Would you like to know how? WILL JESUS FIND FAITH ON THE EARTH?

Life is full of disappointments, and to say it isn’t would be a lie. But to say having faith in God brings disappointments would be the greatest lie of all. Last night I received a text message from a person who has been “confessing the scriptures and believing for months” and is convinced Jesus won’t heal them.  To say they are disappointed would be an understatement.  Now if Jesus healed all who came to Him back then, and the Bible says in Hebrews 13:8,  Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and for ever, and He doesn’t heal the one who asks today, there must be a reason.  But are we willing to face that reason head-on and do something about it? That’s the $64,000 question. Continue Reading »

THE VOICE OF THE LORD

Many people ask me, “How can I hear the voice of the LORD?” To me, that’s one of the easiest questions to answer that there is.  All you have to do is LISTEN.  God doesn’t shout, so we have to turn up our spiritual listening level.  The Bible talks about the “still small voice” God used to speak to Elijah.  We are used to being blasted every day with every kind of media in the world, TV, radio, internet, telephone, Facebook, Twitter, only to name a few.  There are so many voices competing for our attention that you really have to be selective if you’re going to hear God.
