REMINDERS ARE GOOD!
As we each go through our daily lives, some of those days are good, and some are NOT so good. It serves us well to be reminded of one simple truth in Psalm 100:5:
Psa 100:5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
Of course, when things are going good, we are happy and praising God, but how about when things are NOT going good, are we remembering that God never changes, regardless of our circumstances? Are we still praising Him, even when it seems He went on vacation and left no forwarding address?
Sometimes God delays His response to us, and we often see that as falling through on His promises, but we fail to consider in moving ONE person to do such-and-such, that He may have to move a hundred more to get everything lined up. In the meantime, we get edgy and nervous, and that leads to fear, and of course, fear leads to the devil showing up on our doorstep with his complete entourage and all their various helpers. The next thing we know, things are spiraling out of control and we’re crying out to God, HELP ME!! HELP ME! ; when all the time He already IS helping you, but you just don’t know it….YET.
It’s that “ not YET” part that gets us every time. It’s during those times we need to trust the LORD has the situation well in hand. We have a tendency to want what we perceive is best for ourselves, and yet, God looks over the whole situation and decides what is best for all concerned. A dear friend called this morning for prayer about a piece of property that was left to her family, and it is presently undivided. It seems some of the family members are pressing her to do something she doesn’t want to do, in order that THEY might be satisfied. Well, we prayed, and the Holy Spirit guided me to pray for the whole family, not only for their salvation, but that HIS perfect will be done in regard to this. You see, the LORD especially works in behalf of those who are in covenant with Him, and though He blesses the just and unjust, exactly who do you think He favors more: those who love Him, or those who don’t give a hoot for Him?
So, in praying, we invoked Isaiah 43:26, which says:
Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.
We did exactly what the LORD requires, in that we put Him in remembrance of His covenant with this His daughter, and reminded Him of all His mercy and goodness, which requires Him to do good, not only to her, but her family as well. You see, this lady isn’t selfish, she loves the LORD with all her heart and her family as well, so she wants what is right for all of them. Here is something we made note of in prayer, John 10:10, in which the Lord Jesus said: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
I quickly recognized the devil’s hand at work here; first off he wanted to divide the family and get them all mad at each other. And, he was working to steal this inheritance from the family, so they would all have to spend money on lawyers fighting among themselves, and leave them all with nothing but a big lawyer bill. Now, we pleaded this case before the LORD, and HE wants us to be justified, so exactly HOW do we become justified in God’s eyes? Simple! By agreeing with God’s Word! So we came in agreement in another area of God’s Word which says in 2 Peter 3:9, The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Now, all the earth is the LORD’S and the fullness thereof, all the land is His, all the cattle are His, all the taters under the hills are His, and all of the SOULS are His. Knowing God doesn’t want our unsaved family members to miss out on His Kingdom, we prayed for their salvation as well, that all her family would come into unity and agreement, and that the devil would NOT be able to have his way with ANY of them. By reminding God of His unbounded love, and His care for us, and having turned this situation over to Him, we can now rest secure that the best outcome for all will happen, for the ears of the LORD are always open to those who have a covenant with Him. And we can use that covenant to bring OTHERS IN as well.
We need to be mindful that Rome wasn’t built in a day. Why, I heard it took all weekend! Anyway, if and when God doesn’t move according to OUR schedule, we still need to keep our peace. It’s easy to get anxious sometimes, because we know GOD lives in eternity, but OUR time is limited on earth, so we ask the LORD to move quickly for us. “Quickly” to God may be hundreds or thousands of years of OUR time, or, it can be seconds, but nonetheless, God does work all things to the good for those who love Him. When we remind ourselves of His love for us, the waiting part becomes easier, for though we may know how WE want things to turn out, God always has a FAR better plan, that will not only result in OUR blessing, but other people being blessed as well.
If we are in alignment with God’s Word, we always come out on top, whether it’s in finances, relationships, healing, business dealings, court cases, or whatever it is. We need to first find out what God has to say about it in His Word, and then we need to get in line with that in order to be in a position where God can look at our situation, and find us in total agreement with His will. Once we are in that position, look out devil, we are going over, and if he doesn’t get out of the way, we are going THROUGH! One way or another, reminding ourselves of our covenant with our heavenly Father always lifts our Spirit. Think of it like this: Father God has left the judgment of all mankind to Christ Jesus, and we are HIS, we love Him and do His commandments. So, we KNOW whatever we face in life, we have favor with the Judge, Christ Jesus our LORD.
Whether you’re having a good day, or a not-so-good day, remind yourself of the goodness of God and rejoice, for He is your heavenly Father, and He takes good care of His kids!
