A SOFT ANSWER

Proverbs is a book I often teach from, and today Proverbs 15:1 comes to mind, and it should be an easy one to memorize, for it will come in handy many times in your life.  It says, A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.  Continue Reading »

BE MERCIFUL

God is merciful, and if we want to please Him, then we must be too.  And I guarantee you that there are enough “jerks” sprinkled among us, that being merciful isn’t always easy to do.  Yet I think of how we treat the LORD many times, and I’m amazed He hasn’t made crispy critters out of most of us.  God nearly destroyed all of mankind back in the flood, and only Noah and his family were spared.  Here we are thousands of years later, and I’m wondering how God can put up with us even another day.  It isn’t going to be pretty when He decides to deal with mankind’s evil. OVERCOMING FEAR

Today, when asking the LORD what to write,  the subject of “fear” came up.  Fear, you know, when you read something or hear something or see something that makes your stomach turn over and you start to shake all over, and that hot feeling comes all over you…yes, THAT fear.  We’ve all been there, and it isn’t a nice feeling, and God doesn’t want us to experience it ever again. BE NOT SHAKEN

Many people I talk to are really worried about how things are going in the world. Lots of changes in our lives have taken place over the past year, changes in government, people trying to take our freedom from us, with fear mongers spreading lies and fear. With Covid making people sick with some dying, our children being forced to stay home from school, people losing jobs, businesses closing, things have looked pretty dismal. And we are just now a year and a half later starting to come out of it, but things are no where near back to “normal”. Many tell us things will never be back as they were before.

DEATH AND LIFE

We often fail to realize how important our words are. It is written in Proverbs 18:21, Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

WHAT DO YOU MEDITATE UPON?

As you know, I like to use “It is written”, just like Jesus did. In Psalm 119:14:24 it says,

DO NOT WORRY

We are told by the Lord Jesus not to have worry or anxiety about things. Yeah, I know, it’s easy to say, but hard to do, right? Well, it doesn’t HAVE to be. I think of it like this; if God be for me, who can be against me? And if God be FOR me, WHO CARES who’s against me? So why worry, when God has me covered? And that would be a good attitude for YOU to have, as well. It is written in Matthew 6:24-34,

WHAT’S IN YOUR HEART?

It is written in Proverb 21:2, “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.” This is just the nature of mankind, to always think we’re right. We can never admit we’re wrong, can we? Why, I remember recently I thought I was wrong, but thankfully I was mistaken. But the LORD ponders the hearts. And boy, are we full of pride. Well, maybe YOU are, but not me….(and that’s how we make excuses to God). I for one need all the help from God that I can get, because like the Bible says in Genesis 6:5,
And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

WHAT DO YOU DESIRE?

It is written is Psalm 37:4, “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” When you read that verse a few times, it becomes apparent that when you delight yourself in something, it becomes your heart’s desire. Therefore, when you delight yourself in the LORD, He becomes the desire of your heart, and He shall give you Himself.

MAKE IT EASY ON YOURSELF

It sure seems to me that people put themselves through a lot of hard stuff, trying to win the goodwill of God, when all the time, God is trying to get us straight to the blessings. It is written in Isaiah 55:1-3,
