So often when people need healing, they get the mistaken idea that it is something that they need to talk God into doing for them. And some even try to “bargain” with God, that if He heals them, they will do such-and-such to give Him glory. And when nothing happens, then of course the “religious” people will tell them, “Maybe it isn’t God’s will to heal you…” or perhaps, “You must have sin in your life, therefore God cannot (or will not) heal you.” I tell you, there is no end of reasons people get talked out of their healing. A lot of people make a big deal out of the New Year, saying it’s a chance to make a fresh start, and fix those bad habits that have hung on so long, or fix a broken relationship, or start some other good thing. If you don’t happen to believe in gravity, it doesn’t care, it applies whether you believe in it or not. If you happen to be one that doesn’t believe in gravity, do this: hold a bowling ball above your bare foot and let go of the ball. If there is no such thing as gravity, then nothing will happen. God is merciful, and if we want to please Him, then we must be too. And I guarantee you that there are enough “jerks” sprinkled among us, that being merciful isn’t always easy to do. Yet I think of how we treat the LORD many times, and I’m amazed He hasn’t made crispy critters out of most of us. God nearly destroyed all of mankind back in the flood, and only Noah and his family were spared. Here we are thousands of years later, and I’m wondering how God can put up with us even another day. Many people I talk to are really worried about how things are going in the world. Lots of changes in our lives have taken place over the past year, changes in government, people trying to take our freedom from us, with fear mongers spreading lies and fear. With Covid making people sick with some dying, our children being forced to stay home from school, people losing jobs, businesses closing, things have looked pretty dismal. And we are just now a year and a half later starting to come out of it, but things are no where near back to “normal”. Many tell us things will never be back as they were before.
