WHICH CAME FIRST?

When I read about all the healings that Christ Jesus did, I have to ask myself a question:  Which came first, the healing, or the believing? Continue Reading »

THE HIGH CALLING OF CHRIST

Sometimes it is necessary to remind oneself that salvation is not a matter of religious observance of rituals or laws, or self-righteous denial of foods or drink, but it is ONLY the result of what Christ Jesus did on the cross. Continue Reading »

THE BLAME GAME

Have you ever noticed how people don’t want to accept responsibility for their actions?  They want to blame “someone else” for their decisions, so that “someone else” reaps the consequences.  And it’s nothing new.  As far as I can see, it’s been going on ever since the Garden of Eden, and we can pick it up in Genesis 3:1, Continue Reading »

WORTH MORE THAN MANY SPARROWS

While we are to humble ourselves before the LORD, we can also go into the ditch with that, by declaring ourselves to be worthless to the LORD. And what better way to discourage a person from seeking God, than to convince them that God sees them as worthless. Through the years I’ve dealt with many people suffering that very thing. And although many people can quote John 3:16 from heart, it never really registers to them that God places very high value on us. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

IF WE CONFESS OUR SINS

I love to start with “It is written”, because it’s pretty hard to go wrong with the Word of God. In His Word we gain wisdom, we gain peace, and in His Word we find the way unto everlasting life. In 1 John 1:4-10, we read,

MAKE IT EASY ON YOURSELF

It sure seems to me that people put themselves through a lot of hard stuff, trying to win the goodwill of God, when all the time, God is trying to get us straight to the blessings. It is written in Isaiah 55:1-3,

MY FRIEND THE OYSTER

Sometimes the LORD gives me a doozy of a name for an article, and today is one of them. When I woke up this morning I asked the LORD what I would be writing about, and He told me, “My friend the oyster”. Say WHAT? I don’t know any oysters. But here we go…..

THIS DO IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME

Last night after sunset a group of us observed Passover and ate a Passover meal and later took communion. We do this to remind ourselves of our covenant with God. Some say, “I’m not going back under the law, I’m under grace.” Well, I’m under grace, too, but I find it helpful to remind myself why I’m under grace, and for what.

THE WAY IS NARROW

So many people believe when they die they will go to heaven, that Jesus just threw open the gates to heaven and everyone, everywhere will be invited in. Sadly, the Bible doesn’t bear that out. In fact, Jesus said FEW would be saved. Now if the stakes are THAT high, then it would seem to me that we should be spending our time fervently seeking God. Well, the stakes indeed ARE that high, are YOU willing to pay the price of being His disciple?

WHY FORGIVE?

Each and every day we are given an opportunity to be offended. And what we do with that opportunity defines who we are. Some people get offended at every little thing. Of course, it’s always the other person’s fault for causing the offense. But what if I told you it was YOUR fault? Would you be offended?
