WHY ARE SOME NOT HEALED?
It has been my observation that not everyone I’ve prayed for over the years has been healed. But yet is can be proven by the ministry of the Lord Jesus that it is God’s desire all be healed. Now there are ministries out there who claim 100% success in healing, but when some of those people call me for prayer because they weren’t healed by those ministries, I have to ask why they are claiming that which is not true? Why isn’t everyone healed? And more importantly to me personally, why isn’t everyone I pray for healed?
There are those who clearly don’t have faith to be healed, some because of outright doubt and unbelief. Even the Lord Jesus can’t heal them, as is evidenced by the fact He could not do any mighty works in His own home town, and He marveled at their unbelief. Some of them just frankly don’t know enough to have their faith working. But they are willing to be taught, and once they understand the Word of God, they get their healing. And then there are the “others”. Let’s talk about them and why they never seem to manifest their healing, no matter how many hours you teach them, or how many times they have been prayed for.
God did not hide the answer from us. It is written so clearly in the Bible that you would have to work at it to miss it. I find one of the key words God used in the answer is a tiny little word called “IF”. I find that no matter where I preach, most everyone has heard about the benefits of God, and they want them. And that’s fine, God WANTS us to have them, else He wouldn’t have told us about them. But it’s kind of like this: when someone goes to apply for a job, the first thing they want to know is “What does it pay, and what are the benefits?” Come on now, haven’t you done it? I have. You see, we’re all interested in the benefits, but we don’t really want to hear what is required in order to have those benefits. Hello? Anyone home?
Let’s use my favorite verses in Psalm 103:2-4: it says,
Psa 103:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Psa 103:2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Psa 103:3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Psa 103:4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
Psa 103:5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
I tell you, people get plumb excited when I read those verses to them. I go on to read them Deuteronomy 28:1-14, and they get even more excited about the benefits. Let’s read them and you’ll see what I mean:
Deu 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I
command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
Deu 28:2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
Deu 28:3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
Deu 28:4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
Deu 28:5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
Deu 28:6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
Deu 28:7 The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
Deu 28:8 The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Deu 28:9 The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.
Deu 28:10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.
Deu 28:11 And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
Deu 28:12 The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
Deu 28:13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
Deu 28:14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
For the most part, everyone misses the word “IF” in every instance. They are so focused on the benefits that they completely ignore the “IF”. Now, everyone would be happy to ignore that tiny little word, after all, what possible difference could two little letters make in their receiving their “benefits”, huh? Apparently, God thinks it matters a lot. Why do I say that? Well, if you read Deuteronomy 28:15 through the end of the chapter, you’ll get the idea. I’ll just include verses 15 through 20 to give you a taste, and you can look the rest of them up for yourself. In fact, you need to!
Deu 28:15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
Deu 28:16 Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.
Deu 28:17 Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.
Deu 28:18 Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
Deu 28:19 Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
Deu 28:20 The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.
Does that tell you why some aren’t healed or enjoy the benefits of God? Are you one of them? If so, there is a cure, it’s called “REPENT OF YOUR SINS AND FORSAKE THEM.” John the Baptist preached that, Jesus preached that, and I preach that. If you want the benefits, you have to get them God’s way. God isn’t “BURGER KING”. Let me explain: you can go to Burger King and get a hamburger any way you want it, and there is no wrong way. You can have Coke on your hamburger if that’s what turns your crank, you can have it with a napkin in the middle, or a bun in the middle and the hamburger outside, if you are so inclined. Any way you want it is the right way, and there is no wrong way. So people think they can have God’s benefits “their way:” Thus, the Burger King mentality pervades the church today. And they have the nerve to accuse God and say He isn’t keeping His word. That’s blasphemy! God always keeps His Word. You just have to pay attention to the “IF”.
I did, and I’m reaping the benefits. How about you? God is willing, so the question that has to be asked is, ARE YOU WILLING TO DO YOUR PART? ARE YOU WILLING TO OBEY THE “IF”? Are the “benefits” precious enough to you to surrender your life to live God’s way? If so, all the forces the devil can muster against you can’t keep the benefits from overtaking you!
I know everyone wants to hear about the benefits. Me? I want you to live in them, enough to tell you the truth, even though it may not be what you want to hear. But once you’re living in them, you’ll see it is worth it, and you’ll thank God and give Him the glory.

These verses are all from the OT. How does the doctrine of Grace in the NT apply?
———
Jerry’s reply:Yes they are from the Old Testament. But God never changes, He still is Holy, and expects obedience from His children. To believe otherwise is to deceive yourself. And apparently that is just exactly will happen because the Lord Jesus said in Matthew 7;13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and there be many which go in thereat: because strait is the hate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and there be FEW that find it.
That is New Testament. Grace is for when we fail as we are living to please God. Grace is not for those who insist on living in sin while calling themselves “Christ-like”, or Christian. When we repent of our sins and TURN away from them, THEN we obtain grace. That is as clearly I can state it based on Jesus’ teachings. Those who live in sin will NOT inherit eternal life, no matter what some TV preacher tells you. I have teachings on grace on my website.

Please Pastor,
I have read your teachings and I believe in the promises of the Lord to us His children. I am a victim of one of those who have not had healing over the years despite my prayers and those of others. Now I know where I went wrong. I will start all over again this time with new vision and perspectives.
Can you please intercede for me too and ask the Good Lord to ride me of Fibroids and bless me with the fruit of the womb?
May God bless you as you do this for me.

How did Jesus get so many healed then? They were not even born again. You know most of those people were sinning. The only thing I know why people aren’t healed is because of the people doing the ministering. When the disciples couldn’t heal the boy and his father took him to Jesus, Jesus was frustrated that the disciples couldn’t get the job down. He didn’t even talk about sin of the boy, but of a poor performance of his disciples.

Jerry’s reply:
Apparently you’ve been reading my other articles because that is is my observation too. I agree for the most part. BUT, even Jesus could do no mighty works in his own home town, and he marveled at THEIR unbelief. See Mark 6:4-6. The problem here wasn’t with Jesus, was it? Sometimes the person seeking healing just won’t believe for reasons known only to them and God. And sometimes, like you said, it’s the person ministering.

I ‘was’ healed back in 2003 of bi-polar, thyroid issues, ms, and many other lesser issues and I PRAISE the LORD! However, my immediate family including myself went through some traumas in 2008 when I also developed h-pylori and my immune system was compromised to this day. I have been so sick that I gave into taking synthroid for the past 3/4 year, but am now having some health issues I believe relating to the med. I DO BELIEVE in HIS healing and will come off this soon…PLEASE stand w/me believing and praising HIM for HIS mighty work. You and Jenny are an encouragement to MANY…Thank you both for ALL you do for HIS KINGDOM…look forward to being w/you both in HEAVEN!

In His hometown Jesus was amazed at their lack of faith —- it seems that is what kept them from getting healed. Why didn’t it say He was amazed at their sin if that’s what keeps people from being healed?
Jerry’s reply: And what is lack of faith? It is not believing God. And what is not believing God? It is calling God a liar. And what is that? It is sin. You just have to get down to the root of the problem. When you deal with the sin problem, which by the way is the root of ALL of our problems, you also get rid of sickness. That is why Psalm 103:2-3 tells us God forgives all our iniquities, and heals all our diseases. Sickness is related to sin, one way or another. People don’t want to hear that, though, so most preachers won’t preach it.
