WHOM SAY YE THAT I AM?
The Holy Bible tells us that in the last days evil would increase, and it certainly appears that we are in the last days. Now whether we are in the last days or in the last of the last days is debatable, but one thing never changes, and that is God’s Word.
Society changes, customs change, and certainly the political landscape changes. Even the borders of countries change from time to time, but God says He changes not. The Lord Jesus asked His disciples, Whom do men say that I am? Let’s read about it.
Mat 16:13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
Mat 16:14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
Mat 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
Mat 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Mat 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Mat 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
So, what does all this mean to you and me today? How does this affect our daily lives? In every way, if we are disciples of Christ Jesus! We need to ask ourselves these same two questions the Lord Jesus asked His disciples; Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? and most importantly, But whom say ye that I am? If YOU are sure He is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and He is YOUR Lord and Savior, it will affect your whole life for good.
No matter what is going on in this world, we can be assured our Lord Jesus is aways looking out for our good. Remember the Lord Jesus said in John 16:33, These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. That means if the bottom falls out of the world economy, God has your back. If there is war, pestilence, famine, or whatever all around you, He has you covered. The gates of hell cannot prevail against His Church, or any of those who belong to His Church, meaning YOU, if you are in Christ Jesus.
Ok, that’s fine, you say, but I just lost my job, and the company I’ve worked for all these years just closed their doors. What about a situation like that? Someone else might say, I’ve just been diagnosed with a terminal disease, how does this affect me? Well, I have to ask the same question that Jesus did: Whom do YOU say that He is? It all really boils down to knowing that you know that Christ Jesus is your Lord and Savior. If there’s any question your salvation, then you cannot be settled in anything else that concerns the promises of God. But if you are settled in your salvation, then you are heir to ALL the promises. What promises?
Wow! The Bible is chock full of promises: What do you need? forgiveness of sins? Done. Healing of diseases? Done. Protection in time of trouble? Done. How about provision for your family? That too, if Christ Jesus is your Lord and Savior. What about if He isn’t? Then I can think of no better time than right now for you to make your salvation sure and get in on all the wonderful promises made available to His children.
Never, ever let the devil shake your confidence in God’s Word. First of all, remember that Satan is not the equal of God, but merely a created angel who turned from his original purpose and became evil. Nor is Satan YOUR equal, for even though he still has power, the Lord Jesus gave YOU His authority to defeat Satan’s every evil work in your life. Remember too, you are one under authority, and you need to be sure you understand that. If you are submitted unto God’s authority, you are granted authority over those under you, even as the Centurion that spoke with Christ Jesus said in Matthew 8:9-10; For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
The level of authority granted unto YOU as a child of God is nothing less than terrifying to the devil and his crew. He knows if you stand in your authority against him, there is no way he can overcome you in any area of your life, period. What he hopes is that you never get an understanding of how powerful you really are. He works daily to intimidate you with circumstances and threats in an effort to keep you battling him in the natural realm, where he can overcome you. But the weapons of YOUR warfare are not natural! Paul said in 2 Corinthians 10:3-4, For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
So then, whom do YOU say Christ Jesus is? If He is your Lord and Savior, then ACT LIKE IT!!

Thank-you Jerry! I keep seeing the Lord working in my life, you know some of the issues. I ask for help from Jesus and Satan knows my weakness and throws them at me to doubt that Lord will come through in His way not mine. I then get filled with aniexty(sp?) and fear. Then the Lord shows me the answer. I keep trying to trust more but … well I feel like Peter walking on the water. I really need to have complete trust as my future is so unsure. Thank-you for the encouragement.

I found this blog post when I was doing a general search on the phrase “Whom say ye that I am?”. I just wanted to say that you have taught some powerful principles in this post. The most enlightening statement that you made is in reference to Satan’s plan– “What he hopes is that you never get an understanding of how powerful you really are.”
