As you know, I like to use “It is written”, just like Jesus did. In Psalm 119:14:24 it says,

14 I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.
15 I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.
16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.
17 GIMEL. Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.
18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
19 I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.
20 My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times.
21 Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments.
22 Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.
23 Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.
24 Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors.

We can make our way easy on the earth, or we can make it hard, depending whose words we agree with. If we agree with the devil….all we have is HIS stuff: misery and destruction. If we agree with God, we have HIS stuff, blessings, health, and peace. Personally, I like the results of God’s Word better!

How good are we at keeping God’s Words in our heart, and in our mouth? It’s so easy to get caught up in what we hear and see in the world. In fact, if we aren’t careful, we will start thinking and talking like the world instead of like the Word.

There’s so much sickness in the world. But WHAT DOES THE WORD SAY? God didn’t create Adam and Eve sick. As long as they were in fellowship with God, there was no sickness among them.

Deut 7:11-21, if you will give God’s Word first place:
11 Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.
12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:
13 And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
14 Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
15 And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.
16 And thou shalt consume all the people which the LORD thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.
17 If thou shalt say in thine heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?
18 Thou shalt not be afraid of them: but shalt well remember what the LORD thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt;
19 The great temptations which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby the LORD thy God brought thee out: so shall the LORD thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.
20 Moreover the LORD thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed.
21 Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.

Why are God’s people having all these problems today? We have let the world water down our obedience, and our faith, until God’s people don’t look much different than those who aren’t. Even something as simple as the speed limit shows we often compromise, even though we know better. You notice Jesus fellowshipped with sinners, but He did not sin with the sinners. As men and women of God, He called us to a higher standard.

Yes, we have a new Covenant, with better promises, but are WE a living part of that new covenant? Or are we just hearers of the Word, and not Doers. Jesus started His earthly ministry by making fishers of men out of fishers of fish. He called people from all walks of life into NEW life, serving God. He didn’t care that they were sinners. He didn’t call qualified preachers. He qualified those He called. He called them while they were yet sinners. Why? Because He was going to deal with their sin problem himself.

Multitudes followed Jesus, there must have been a reason. Who is following YOU? Why are they following you? Those you influence follow you because some quality of yours attracts them. They may not be attracted to me, but they are to you, because God will draw those to YOU that He has called you to influence. Every one is important to the Work of the Kingdom.

I realize that living a holy life before the world isn’t an easy job, but if we don’t do it, who will? The devil knows better than we do what is holy and what is not. Remember, he was the covering angel over the Throne of God. So is the devil going to lead the “holiness movement”? No, it’s up to us to be the example of Christ Jesus to this lost and dying world. They need Jesus, they just don’t know it yet. Or maybe they know it, but just don’t care yet. But one day they WILL realize they need Him.

Remembering God told the Israelites that if they would put Him first, He would take sickness from among them. Yes, that’s Old Covenant, but we have a BETTER Covenant, which includes all the blessings from the Old, but when we want to compromise, we fail to enter the blessings of God, just like Israel did.

God is Holy. He never gets sick. He called US into His family as His children. Like Father, like Son, or Daughter. How can God have sick kids when His blood is pure and His seed is in us? Because we forget His Words and it only takes a small opening for the devil to gain entrance into our lives. It is written in 1 Peter 1:13-16,

13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Is it really possible for you to be holy, even as God is holy? Well it must be, else we wouldn’t be told to be holy. It’s time we act like the Bible is really true, because it IS!

Again, what do we meditate on? What’s going on in the world, or God’s Word? What you meditate on is what becomes the most important in your life. You become what you think about. Think poor, you become poor. Rich people can lose everything and become rich over and over, because they don’t think poor. Sick people are sick because they dwell on sickness, instead of God’s Word. Well people stay well because they give no place to sickness. Holy men and women of God are holy because they meditate on God’s Word continually.

What do YOU meditate upon? Start meditating on what you want to become. What you are doesn’t have to be what you will be later. Your past doesn’t have to be your future. You can spend your whole life up to now being a loser, or sick and broke, and change it starting now, by lining your thoughts up to agree with what God says about you.

When the devil tries to convince you that you’ll never amount to any good, or that you’ll never get well, or never get out of debt, consider what the Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 4:6-8,
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

You may be sick today, or deep in debt, or depressed. And that might be true, but your thoughts need to check ALL those boxes: true, honest, just, pure, lovely, good report, virtuous, praiseworthy.
Your best friend might be a jerk sometimes, for example, and even though it’s true, don’t think on that. And don’t talk about it to others. Apply the other qualifiers. Are you just in telling your friends how that person is? Is your heart pure by speaking about them behind their back? Filter your thinking through the scriptures, and before long, the peace and joy of God will chase you down and overtake you. Be careful what you meditate on! Don’t waste your thoughts on stuff that are not up to God’s standards!

Sooner or later, sickness will not be able to find a place in you, sadness will not be able to hang around you, defeat will no longer be in your vocabulary. You will be an overcomer! Just like your Savior!
