WHAT DID GOD SAY ABOUT IT?
Today we have so many “ITIS” illnesses out there; Arthritis, Bronchitis, Bursitis, Colitis, Conjuctivitis , Dermatitis, Ileitis, Neuritis , Pruritis , Psoriatic Dermatitis , Rhinitis Sinusitis,Tendonitis, and that’s only a few. All you have to do is turn on the TV and they are selling a pill for this or that, or telling you there is some new disease you’ve never heard of, and guess what? There are some people who, when they hear of any new illness, they sit and wonder if they have it. And the symptoms match, right? So they must have the “itis”, alright. I find it amazing that we even survived in my generation without all these pills and medications that are available and being pushed on us today. The way the medical field would have us believe, we are all terminally ill, or if we aren’t, surely we will be by tomorrow, so we’d better stock up on our medicines if we have any hope of living and coping with another day.
I remember as a child having measles, mumps, colds, sore throats, but somehow I survived all that without any medicine. Can you believe it? Kids would fall down and skin themselves up all the time as a natural process of playing. Where I grew up we would ride our bicycles off the edge of a gravel pit about six feet high, just for fun goofing off, thinking we could fly, and fell down hard and got skinned up from head to toe, and we’d get up and do it again. No trips to the emergency room or pharmacy for us. Sometimes we would get home and get our butts spanked off for doing dumb stuff, though. But somehow through it all, we survived. Parents and kids didn’t worry about the “itis” going around, we had better things to do, because back then people just knew that God had created us healthy, and if we got hurt, we would heal. A lot has changed in one generation. We’ve become a generation of “sickies”.
“B.C.”, that is, Before Christ, I was lost in my sins, and subject to all kinds of sickness. For those of you who know me, I had five melanomas and liver cancer in 1993, and only a few weeks left to live. But something changed upon hearing that diagnosis. The doctors said “It is cancer, you’ll be dead in three weeks or less, there’s nothing we can do, so you need to go home and get your affairs in order.” You know, back then I wasn’t ready to die, first of all because I was only 45 years old, secondly, I had a wonderful wife, and thirdly and most importantly, I wasn’t saved. Hearing “IT IS” from the doctor scared me enough to earnestly seek God for the first time in my life. And when I reached out to the Lord Jesus, another “IT IS” changed my life
I found salvation in Christ Jesus. A few of us went on beyond salvation to actually get into God’s Word and READ it! And guess what? I for one found an “IT IS” in the Word of God! “IT IS FINISHED!” (John 19:30) What is finished? Well, for one thing, the Lord Jesus went to the cross as the payment for my sins, so my sins are finished. He took stripes on His body for my healing, so my sickness and diseases are finished! Praise God, I don’t have to deal with the “itis” stuff that afflict and scare people these days, because Jesus made me whole. Now, don’t think I’m something special, because that isn’t the case. All I did was to take the Word of God and apply it to my life, just like you’d put a bandage on a wound. The Word of God isn’t a bandage, though. It’s the cure. Not “a” cure, but “the” cure, and it’s the only one you’ll ever need.
What if an announcer came on a TV commercial and said, “If you buy our pills, you’ll never be sick again the rest of your life!”? Do you think anyone would buy them? Of course they would, because it just isn’t natural to want to be sick. Everyone wants to be well, and that’s because God created us well in the first place, and that’s the way we’re supposed to be. Good health is the “default” position for us, and sickness is not. Deep inside everyone know that. Yet, we have allowed ourselves to be gradually programmed by society to accept sickness and disease as a natural, normal, part of life. Let me help you here: sickness and disease is NOT natural or normal according to the Word of God. He didn’t intend for you to spend your life sick and suffering, and not only that, He provided the CURE just to make sure you knew His will is for you to be healthy. What does that mean for you as a believer and follower of Christ Jesus? That means you don’t have to be sick anymore!
People, even many Pastors today have convinced God’s own children that He gave us doctors and medicines to heal us. Sorry, folks, that doesn’t agree with the Word of God. We need to know what God has to say about it in Psalm 107:17-22;
Psa 107:17 Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
Psa 107:18 Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.
Psa 107:19 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.
Psa 107:20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
Psa 107:21 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
Psa 107:22 And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.
It doesn’t say the Lord sent the doctor and healed us. No!! It says He sent HIS WORD and healed us. Notice too, it doesn’t say He sent His Word TO heal us, but He sent His Word AND healed us. That means it is finished! Who is His Word? The disciple John gave us the answer in John 1:1-14
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Joh 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Joh 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
Joh 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
Joh 1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
Joh 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
Joh 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
Joh 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Joh 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
To as many as receive Christ Jesus, He gives them power to become the sons of God, making them heir to the covenant of healing and salvation. So the question has to be, Have YOU received Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior? Now, everyone is free to receive or reject what Christ Jesus made available to us, and God will not just save you or heal you against your will, because He gave you a free will and the ability to choose. But your choices can work for you or against you, depending what you decide. There are people today who are thoroughly convinced that healing ended with the original disciples. Well, if healing ended, then salvation ended with it, because they are inseparable. And if salvation ended, then we are all still lost in our sins. But thank God, His promise endures to all generations, for as long as mankind remains on the earth
Now, you’ve heard the report of the medical profession and know how their “cures” work. And this is what God has to say about it. The choice is yours.
Deu 30:10 If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.
Deu 30:11 For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off.
Deu 30:12 It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
Deu 30:13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
Deu 30:14 But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.
Deu 30:15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;
Deu 30:16 In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.
Deu 30:17 But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;
Deu 30:18 I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.
Deu 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
Deu 30:20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
I didn’t see anything in there about the doctor or medicine, did you?

I didn’t see anything in there about doctors either. Jesus is our great physician. Charles Capps did point out though, thank God for doctors, they are on the same side, trying to get us well. Good thing doctors are around, because so many christians would be dead because they haven’t been exercising their faith. So he suggests go to the doctors if your faith isn’t developed, get on the right track until your faith is built up.
