It is written in Joshua 1:8, This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

In this day of everything changing at whatsoever direction the wind is blowing, there is one thing that NEVER changes, and that is God. Whatever country you’re in, whoever is in power politically, it doesn’t matter, God never changes. So when people say, “Well, that’s Old Testament, and we’re not under the law anymore, we’re under grace.”, I demand to know where in the Bible does it say God has changed His mind, and we’re free to just do whatsoever we want, and disregard His Word? Show me! I’m teachable, so show me where He said that? Well, it doesn’t, I’ll save you the trouble of researching it, because I have spent years searching for “loopholes”, and there are none. God never changes.

The problem is, society changes continually according to the whims of mankind. We can search history and see the rise and fall of every empire. We can see how God chose Israel as His chosen nation, and as long as they continued in His laws, they were blessed and prospered. And when they decided they had a snoot full of God telling them what to do, and went their own way, they ALWAYS fell into captivity. And they always boo-hoo’d because things were going badly for them when they disregarded God. Same pattern over and over.

Yet after a while of letting them suffer what they caused themselves, God would free them of their captivity and give them another chance. And for a while, they obeyed God and were blessed and prosperous again….till they repeated the pattern and turned from God. This has happened over and over and over. Who changed? God? Nope, people got where they felt so blessed that they didn’t need God anymore. Sound familiar in this day and age? Yep, we can look around and see our leaders taking God out of everything, and turning our nation into a godless nation, and we are about to lose our blessings.

Well, let me qualify that: I’m not going to lose MY blessings, because I’m not stupid enough to turn away from the One who loves me and gave Himself for me. I will continue to seek God with all my heart, because He never changes, and He says if I seek Him, He will bless me for it.
You know, it is written in Psalm 91 that if I seek Him, I will be under His protection. Here, read it for yourself:

1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

See what I have going for me? Why would I want to listen to worldly “wisdom” and give all this up? Why would I want to agree with the world that God no longer requires us to seek Him and meditate on His Word in order to be blessed? Only a fool thinks like that. No, I know where my blessings come from, and I want to encourage you to get in on them, too. Remember this: the world didn’t die for your sins, Christ Jesus did. Nobody else took on your sin debt to save you. Christ Jesus did. People can say they love you and want what’s best for you, but Christ Jesus shed His own blood for you. Who else can say that?

Now if Christ Jesus did that for you, and He did, why would you NOT want to seek Him with all your heart? Why would you NOT want to meditate on His Words day and night and be careful to obey them?

In His Word is how to be successful and prosper in all you do. It tells you EXACTLY how to be saved, EXACTLY how to be healed from all your sicknesses. It even tells you how to have peace with your enemies. I like that. If you meditate on His Words and OBEY them, you shall walk in all His blessings. Simple, huh? So then why are people not doing it? They want to do it THEIR OWN WAY, instead of God’s way. So they keep going around and around the same old mountain of troubles, saying the mountain is getting higher. No, the mountain is not getting higher, they’re just wearing a deep rut in it, refusing to come out of the rut and just obey God.

How about you, my friend, regardless of what everyone around you is doing, would YOU like to be blessed? Then do what it says in Joshua 1:8, and you will be!
