When we speak of the “Lion’s Share” of something, it means the major and best part of it.  When a lion kills its prey, he eats the good parts leaving only the gristle and undesirable parts behind for those lower in the pecking order.  Today I’d like you to understand something about your life, and it is this: the Lord Jesus said in John 10:10, The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.  There is a thief out there, Satan, whose desire is to destroy you and everything you hold dear, and what he can’t destroy or kill, he will steal.  And he isn’t satisfied with a tiny bit, he wants the lion’s share.  Is there anything you can do to stop him?
It is written in 1 Peter 5:6-9,
1Pe 5:6  Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
1Pe 5:7  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
1Pe 5:8  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
1Pe 5:9  Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
Understand this; you don’t have to let the devil have his way. But if you don’t know the Word of God well enough, you won’t realize how powerful your defense is against him.  Actually, the Word of God can make you so powerful the devil will actually flee from you because you are too costly for him to mess with.  But that doesn’t just happen automatically; there are conditions that must be met first, and James 4:7-8 tells us what they are:
Jas 4:7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Jas 4:8  Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
This is where some people fail, they think they’re so smart that the devil can’t deceive them, and by the time they get there, they are ALREADY deceived.  They forget the devil has been around for untold ages and he is extremely smart and deceptive and he’s an expert at what he does.
If you don’t humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, you have no defense against the devil whatsoever.  What I’m saying is this; someone is going to get the lion’s share of your blessings and what you’ve worked for, and it might as well be YOU.  Consider how hard you work.  It’s good to work hard for the things you want, and it says in Ecclesiastes 5:18,
Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion.   So, now that you have it, do you want to give it to the devil?  I don’t think so.  But if you aren’t diligent, he will end up with it, and the reality of it is that you aren’t able on your own to stop it.  That’s why you need to make sure you are submitted to God in EVERY area of your life, because if you’re not, it’s like closing and locking and guarding the front door and the thief climbs in your window instead.
Lately I’ve been preaching about discipleship and commitment to God.  Others are preaching about blessings and prosperity, and some others about healing.  Blessings and prosperity and healing are GOOD things, and they come from the LORD, but without being fully committed unto God, you won’t get to keep any of it for very long.  What good is a blessing if you don’t get to keep it?  How good is prosperity of it’s here today and gone tomorrow?  What good will healing do you today if you’re right back where you started by this evening?  If you’re going to defeat your enemy who is out to kill, steal, and destroy everything you have, you must know how he operates.
The two principal ways the devil works are through fear and deception.  The Bible tells us God doesn’t give us the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.  Adam and Eve didn’t have fear, and as the rulers of the whole earth, they walked in power, love, and a sound mind.  But they fell to deception, and if we think we’re too smart for that, we have already lost.  Only God has the wisdom to guide us into all the truth and we will only have that truth revealed unto us as we submit ourselves unto Him.  We must stick so close to God that the devil can’t tell where we end and God begins.
The bottom line is this; our absolute obedience to God is the key to receiving and KEEPING His blessings.  But know this too, a commitment to live as God commands does not stop the devil from trying to steal from us or harass us.  Some think once they become saved, the devil leaves them alone.  That is how deception works.  The devil often tries to convince us that we can have one foot in the Kingdom of God, and one foot in the world, and by this I’m speaking of how many try to compromise with the Word of God.  They think a little sin remaining in their life is ok, because God knows their heart.  See, that’s the problem, God DOES know their heart, and they are losing the lion’s share of their blessings to compromise.  I’m sure you know people like that.  But don’t you be one of them.
We must reject the lies of the devil and be led by the Holy Spirit. But there is only so much we as disciples of the Most High can do.  The rest is up to God to protect His children from the devil getting the lion’s share of their blessings.  Be assured of this, God is well up to the task, and His eyes are searching to and from throughout the earth for those He can show Himself strong in behalf of.  It may as well be you, right?  We have the easy job, keeping ourselves focused upon God, submitting ourselves unto Him and resisting the fear and lies from the devil.  God says if we will do that, He will make the devil flee from us.  And that means he will be leaving the lion’s share with US, where it belongs!
