This morning when I woke up, the Holy Spirit told me, Teach people to seek God.  There is something built into people of every age and culture to worship a deity.  Even people who claim not to believe in God acknowledge a sense of the existence a higher being, though they choose not to worship Him.  There are so many gods that people of other cultures worship, and the Bible talks about gods of wood and stone that do not see, hear, or speak.
   There is only one God which has no beginning nor end of days, and He said in Isaiah 44:6, Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.  To those who refuse to acknowledge God to obey Him, it is written in Deuteronomy 4:27-31,
Deu 4:27  And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you.
Deu 4:28  And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
Deu 4:29  But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
Deu 4:30  When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;
Deu 4:31  (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.
   So then, why did the Holy Spirit tell me to teach people to seek God?  The answer is obvious, so that He may be a Father and a blessing to all people.  You see, God isn’t just for “church people”, although they tend to think they have the market on God.  When you go to many different churches to minister like I do, it becomes apparent that certain Christian denominations seem to think they are the only ones who can hear from God.  In fact, there is much competition between about every denomination you can name.  You would think they could all work together to get people to seek God, for there is only one God, and at least they all agree to that, but not much else.
   And while denominations are bickering among themselves about doctrines and how and where and through whom God operates, the lost are still lost and the focus of teaching people to seek God has fallen by the wayside.  Then you have the “false gods” to deal with, which neither hear, see, or speak, which have their followers.  And of course, those false gods have no ability to help their worshippers whatsoever, but deceiving spirits have blinded the minds of their followers not to seek the one true God which offers salvation to them, so they’re lost.
Besides all this, the world has its pull upon those who do not seek God.  The lure of possessions, riches, and fame is indeed powerful, and in the course of pursuing those things, there is little room in those people’s lives for anything except the satisfaction of their own desires.  So those are lost as well.
   The Lord Jesus said He came to seek and save the lost.  He trained His disciples as “fishers of men”, to seek out the lost and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to them.  And preach the Gospel they did!  Thousands upon thousands heard the Gospel through them and repented of their sins and believed unto salvation, becoming disciples themselves.  Those new converts got busy about preaching the Gospel and won new converts to Christ Jesus.  Fast forward time a couple thousand years, and what do we have going on today?  Not much.  People are not seeking God like they did a couple thousand years ago, because the Gospel message has become distorted from what it originally was.
   Back then the message was repent from sin, turn your heart to God and worship and serve Him, for He is good and His mercy endures forever, and you shall inherit eternal life.  Now the Gospel message is about seeking God so you can get Him to give you everything you want.  It has become a “Gospel of What’s In It For Me?”.  Well, that movement has attracted MULTITUDES, seeking to satisfy their own lusts, but it has not served to get people to seek God for the right reasons.  The prosperity message has only served to improve the bottom line of church budgets, while leaving the people empty of the meaning of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, who walk away from God wondering, “Where’s MY prosperity?”
   There is a lot of truth in the prosperity message though, for God doesn’t want His people poor, and there is no evidence in the Bible that the blessings of God result in poverty and sickness.  But when people seek God’s hand instead of His heart, it becomes obvious what their motivation truly is, it’s all about THEM and not GOD.  Remember, God’s promises are to those who seek and obey HIM.  As I’ve said many times before, the blessings of God follow seeking Him, and not before.  I seek God because I want to intimately know the God who loved me so much that He gave His only begotten Son as ransom for my sins, so I could live with Him forever.
   If God never gave me another thing for the rest of my life, I would still worship and seek Him, for His word says if I seek Him with all my heart, I shall find Him.  And I have found Him, and believe me, He is worth finding!  His love is beyond anything I can describe.  I have no fear of what people or the devil may try to do to me, for telling you about Him is my one goal in life.  We used to sing a song when I was a child that went, “Jesus loves me, this I know for the Bible tells me so.”  I look at it like this: “Jesus knows me, this I love.”  He knows I’m seeking Him because He died for me that I might live, and the blessings He gives me are just icing on the cake.
   So today I’m telling you, SEEK GOD AND PURSUE HIM.  Make it your first and foremost goal in life to know God.  It’s said, No God, no peace:  Know God, know peace.  Some of you have no peace in your lives, and that’s because you don’t truly know Him.  If you did, you’d know He will neither leave you nor forsake you, no matter what circumstances or trials you will ever face in this life.  He will always show you the right path and your life can be one of joy and victory.  Why not join me today, and teach others to seek God?  They will thank you!
