Many people make plans in the beginning of a new year, hoping to bring about a desired change in their life.  Maybe it’s to save up some money, or to lose some weight, or to make a purchase, but whatever the reason, it usually doesn’t take long for something to happen to disrupt our plans, right?  Maybe your plan for this year is to draw closer to God.  Whatever your desire, do you think the devil is going to look at it and approve it and leave you alone to accomplish it?  Not a chance.  What do you do about it when things start going amiss?  Do you think of giving up when you have more month left at the end of your money, or when the good times leave and your mother-in-law WON’T leave?

We all make plans.  However, only some realize the completion of their plans.  All of us have the same 24 hours in a day, and choices set before us, and opportunity comes to all.  What we do with our opportunities makes all the difference.  Some make excuses, some make plans and little else, and some get in there and get it done.  It’s all about attitude, then.  Like you, I have set some goals for this year, and expect to get them done.  Will there be any setbacks along the way?  Who cares?  I don’t plan my life around setbacks; I set realistic goals and stay with the plan until they are accomplished.

God created you and me to be overcomers, not failures.  In fact, when the opportunity for failure sticks its nose into our life, we should see it as an opportunity to be BETTER, to be STRONGER, for God is for us, and not against us.  Look at the scenario of “how it was” in Genesis chapter 1 for the LORD:

Gen 1:1  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Gen 1:2  And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Not much to see there, is there?  It’s dark.  So God decides to move, to make some changes.  What if the darkness opposes Him and refuses to give way to His Word?  Well, God would have been faced with a decision, either to turn around a go back home, defeated, in the dark, or….
But WAIT!  What did God do?

Gen 1:3  And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Where did the darkness go??  Who knows?  Who cares?  But it WENT because God commanded light be, so there was light.  Right off, we see when God says something, that’s just the way it’s going to be.  And we can read on a bit further and see some pretty startling facts about God, and His creation MANKIND.

Gen 1:26  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Gen 1:27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Gen 1:28  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Gen 1:29  And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
Gen 1:30  And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
Gen 1:31  And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

So, here we have a condensed version of God’s plan for mankind.  He gave us dominion, authority, and seed, and with His first command to mankind, told us to be fruitful, multiply, subdue, and have dominion.  What should we be doing?  We should stay with the plan God set in motion. That was GOD’S plan.  And it was a good plan, right down to the tiniest detail.
Satan came along, and he didn’t like God’s plan, so he went to Eve and explained to her that God’s plan wasn’t what she really wanted, and like an idiot, Eve listened to the “new plan” instead of staying with the original plan given her and Adam by God himself.

You see, we are often idiots.  We can read about God’s plan for mankind in our Bible and say, Hey, that’s a good plan, I’d like to live like that, but instead of staying with the plan, we have to continually CHANGE the plan, just like Satan did.  And then we gripe and complain when the NEW plan we chose in opposition to God’s plan isn’t working out the way we like.  I tell you, there are IDIOTS among us. Who in their right mind would choose poverty, sickness, war, lack, sadness, depression, worry, and all that other stuff in the devil’s “plan”?  Yet we do it every day!

Ask anyone around you, and you’ll find most people just want to raise their kids in peace and blessing.  They want no war, no sickness, no poverty, no fear, and yet the things they DON’T want, is what they follow the plan for.  What’s wrong with this picture?

I propose we do something different this year: let’s go with the plan our loving LORD pronounced in the beginning.  Yes, it will require doing things a bit differently than we are currently used to.  But as it is said, if you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.

God created us to succeed, to have happiness and joy and a blessed relationship with Him on a daily basis.  Isn’t that a lot better plan than the one you’re living right now?  If you think so, then it’s time to do something about it.  We can moan and groan, complain about things, or we can decide we’ve spent enough time on that dead-end plan, and change things to align ourselves with God’s plan.  Now, I know some of you will PLAN to do something, and some will even TALK about planning to do something.  But I also know some of you will get in there and “GIT ‘ER’ DONE”

To you, the LORD is speaking, this will be the best year you’ve ever had so far, and if you will stay with the plan, it only gets better from here.
