SIN SICKNESS AND DEATH
By Jerry Baysinger
I recently wrote an article called “When sickness comes calling”, and today the LORD gave me a supplement to it. There are some who argue with me that sickness is not caused by sin. But I beg to differ, because before Adam and Eve sinned, THERE WAS NO SICKNESS OR DEATH. Therefore, whether you choose to believe it or not, sin caused sickness and death to come upon all mankind. Like I said, you can argue that, but I have the Word of God behind me.
The LORD put an interesting thought to me a while ago, and I want to share it with you. As you know, I’m one to continually confess I’m healed by the stripes of Jesus. I believe in speaking God’s Word of what He has done for me and made available to me. He gave me Luke 11:21-22 where Jesus says, “When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace. But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, an overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.”

Let me put it like this; suppose you bought a new home. The first time you left home, you locked the doors, right? Why? Because there are thieves out there. But let’s say the NEXT time you left, and thereafter you DIDN’T lock the doors, because, hey, you locked them once, right? isn’t that enough? Or maybe you don’t bother taking the keys out of your car, but leave it open, hoping everything will be left alone. Well, your keys are the armor for your possessions, and as long as you are guarding over your things diligently, they are in peace.

Do you see where I’m going with this? Your continual confession of God’s Word keeps your palace, that is your temple, safe from the destroyer. But neglect that, and you may get by for a while, but then again, Jesus said in John 10:10 that the thief cometh not but for to kill, and to steal, and to destroy. So one day, being you weren’t diligent to protect your goods, you see the manifestation of Luke 11:22, “But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.” You see, as long as you’re using the Word of God to protect your temple, YOU are the strong man. But without the Word of God, you are no match for the devil and his crew, and he shall come upon you and overcome you, and spoil your goods.

Now you can believe that or not, and that’s your choice, but the LORD is warning us, there IS a destroyer out there, and the only protection you have against him is the Word of God. If you’re diligent to keep your armor on, even though you may be attacked, you are still the strong man, and your goods (and your body) will be at peace. So be diligent to keep confessing God’s Word over your temple so you can always overcome all the attacks of the enemy. If you don’t, thinking, well, I’ve done that once already, that’s enough, right? You may be, no, you WILL be visited by the destroyer, and all I can say is, good luck with that.

Sickness and death IS the result of sin, regardless of whether you believe it or not. It’s here in this world seeking whom it may devour. If you’re smart, you’ll keep the Word of God as your armor, being diligent to keep it on and use it continually. It’s a lot easier praising and thanking God because He has kept you strong, than it is begging God to heal you and rescue you and get your goods back after you let your guard down.
