I BELIEVE
Many people struggle to believe what is written in the Holy Bible. They ask, How can these things be? There have been many times I myself have asked that very question, but I put that question to bed a long time ago. It’s not necessary for us to know “HOW”, or even “WHY” to every question we have, but only that we can trust God, who DOES know HOW and WHY.
One thing that settles every issue for me is Numbers 23:19, God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
I’m a naturally curious person, I like to explore and push the limits of my understanding, and learn about almost anything. But I don’t believe everything I see, hear, or read. You see, there are many out there who like to deceive, so if we just blindly believe everything, we are going to be in a mess. Not knowing WHAT or WHO to believe makes you a double minded person, who will NEVER be totally convinced of anything. But if you base what you know on Numbers 23:19, you will never go wrong.
It is also written in Hebrews 6:18, That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
It’s easy to be confused in this world when you have a hundred people telling you a hundred different, conflicting things. And being we live in this world, everyone considers it normal that we would LISTEN to the world. But we can’t, because if we do, we will be deceived every time.
The only TRUTH in the world is in the Holy Bible. It never lies to us, and we can trust it with our very life. Through the Bible, God tells us the end from the beginning. How can that be? I don’t know, but it doesn’t matter. It used to bug me to no end not to be able to logically figure everything out, but the longer I know the LORD, the more I can trust Him.
Can I call it “blind faith”? No, because God isn’t blind. He sees it all, so all I have to do is keep my eyes fixed on Him, and I’ll be safe. When I say “safe”, I’m speaking of “eternally safe”. God wants us to trust Him in the “here and now” for everything we need, but after the “here and now” comes “hereafter” which lasts forever. And God has already mapped out “hereafter”.
The Bible describes a glorified body that the resurrected Christ Jesus lived in. He was able to instantly POOF! be inside a room whose door was locked, among His disciples. You can read about that in John 20:19-24. That freaked out His disciples, and you can bet they thought “How can this be?” Jesus didn’t tell them, either. Had I been there, I definitely would have asked Him how that worked. But most likely He wouldn’t have told me, either. WHY? Because it’s not essential to my salvation to know how it all works, only that He said it does, and that’s the end of my “Need to know”.
When I was in the Army, there were things I needed to know that were essential to my security clearance, but there were also things that I DIDN’T need to know, no matter how much I wanted to. And such is our relationship with God. We would all like to know how everything works. Me? I would like to know what that craft is that Ezekiel saw. Was he describing a helicopter, or a UFO, or WHAT? But in God’s wisdom, He withheld certain knowledge from us. Maybe so God could be the only “KNOW IT ALL”. Whatever His reasons, that doesn’t change my curiosity one bit.
The more I study the Bible, the more I see that God can be trusted. He created ALL the universe without our help or counsel. God gave us curious minds that have come up with an abundance of inventions and technology, and yet we cannot even explain the simple things, like how do the rivers dump into the oceans and they are never full? Or, where does light go after it leaves us? Or, where did God grow up? What’s the first thing He remembers doing? I have more questions than I have answers for.
But one thing I HAVE learned; I believe God in everything the Bible says, PERIOD! There are many that, if they can’t put everything in its pigeonhole and figure it out logically, then it may or may not be true for THEM. And when they need something from the Word of God, say healing, they will waver and fail to receive. I know a LOT about healing, but that doesn’t mean I know or understand everything, but I BELIEVE! I’m absolutely convinced, beyond the slightest doubt, that if God said it, then it’s settled forever. That sure makes my life a lot easier. And I believe I’ll have a cup of coffee now…..and praise God!
