Just as I’m getting ready to write about “fear not”, the TV just issued a tornado warning for my area. I’m not impressed. This isn’t my first rodeo. We have been in tornados before and rebuked them in the name of Christ Jesus, and watched them dissipate on the spot. And a passage of scripture comes to mind about the forces of heaven being more than the forces of the devil, in 2 Kings 6:8-17,

8Then  the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.
9 And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.
10 And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.
11 Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?
12 And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.
13 And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.
14 Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.
15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?
16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

People often get in fear because they can’t see what God is doing in the spirit world, They DO see the results of demonic attacks, such as tornados, and they can see the destruction with their eyes. But like Elisha prayed asking the LORD to open the eyes of his servant, once the young man’s eyes were opened, he knew there was nothing to be afraid of at all.

Yes, the devil may really put out an array against us, but if you only knew how much MORE there are of the LORD to protect us, you’d never fear again, ever, for any reason. Yes, the Bible says the devil is the prince of the power of the air. So WHAT? My LORD is the LORD of LORDS and the KING of KINGS! It makes about as much sense to become terrorized by a housefly. Now I’m not making light of the devil, he’s a formidable foe. But he’s a DEFEATED foe, and I remind myself often that he poses us no real danger to a Holy Spirit filled man or woman of God.

The only weapon the devil has is fear and lies. And oh, yes, they are powerful weapons indeed, and you’ve seen in the past year and a half how life came to a screeching halt about Covid, and changed the lives of so many, and now they’re so full of fear they may never recover completely. But I look at things differently: I don’t look at the world through the eyes of how big problems are, but rather how big GOD is! That has a tendency to let the air out of every fear, and it just falls flat on the floor and expires, something like a balloon that has had all the air let out. They don’t pose much of a threat to anything, do they?

Maybe about now you’re saying to yourself, “Well brother Jerry, you just don’t know what I’m up against right now. “ Let me tell you this, Does it matter? Everything is relative. My nearest relative is the LORD, and I lean upon Him anytime trouble comes, and He seems to like for me to do that, because it gives Him the opportunity to show me  that He likes to take good care of His kids. You know, if you knew how big your God is, and how little the devil is, you’d have to work pretty hard to get yourself into fear.

I just don’t get wound up about stuff anymore. Yes, maybe some of these earthly situations are dire, but they’re not my concern. My concern is telling anyone I can about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There’s a judgment coming from God, and it isn’t going to be pleasant or pretty for those who don’t love and serve the LORD. But I’m not afraid of the judgment because I’m not the subject of His wrath. And you don’t have to be either. It’s your choice. Yes, there’s a judgment side to God, but Christ Jesus shed His blood to satisfy that judgment that stood against YOU! Will you let Him apply His blood to your life so your account is marked “paid in full”?

All your sins, paid in full. All your fears, paid in full. With them gone forever, nothing remains but the peace of God in your heart, and I think you’d enjoy that a whole lot. Why not take Jesus up on His offer right now? Fear not, He has never refused to save anyone, even me!

I’ve seen bumper stickers on cars from time to time saying “NO FEAR!” That’s good. Here in the Ozarks we say it like this, “AIN’T SKEERED!” With God on your side, there is nothing to ever be afraid of again!  Let God open your eyes like He did for Elisha’s servant. It was a life changer for him, and it will do the same for YOU, I promise!

It is written in Luke 12:32,  Fear not little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
