God is extending an invitation to all of you today who are thirsting for Him. It’s not intended for everyone, for there are many who have no interest in God whatsoever. It’s for the “thirsty”. It’s for the ones who want more of God in their life, who are not satisfied with anything less than all of Him they can get. It is written in Isaiah 55:1-3,

1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

Are YOU one that is thirsty for God? Then come, today is your day. I woke up this morning feeling kind of “down”, nothing in particular, just “down”. I seek God every day, and yet the next day I’m seeking Him again because, obviously, if I had all of God I wanted yesterday, I wouldn’t be reaching out, searching for MORE of Him today. So I guess that makes me one of the “thirsty” ones.

I study the Word daily, I pray in the Spirit, seeking God, going to church, reaching out, hungering and thirsting for MORE of Him. Yet, each day I find myself not satisfied. Maybe it’s just me, but maybe not. Maybe there’s someone else out there who is asking, “Is this all there is?” Unfulfilled might be the word I’m searching for here. Not blaming God, mind you, but blaming ME. I want MORE! of God- MORE OF HIS SPIRIT, MORE OF HIS LOVE, MORE, LORD! Is just ME, or is it you, too?

Maybe I have a gluttonous spirit, for my soul delights itself in fatness when it comes to the things of God. But being I’m a glutton, I’m not satisfied, I want MORE! It’s never enough. Like King Solomon, I’ve tried many things of the world, and it left me empty. Having more money seemed like the solution at the time, so I searched the scriptures for how to prosper, taught on it even, but money wasn’t enough. I teach healing, my body is healthy, yet THAT isn’t enough. I have a lot of the Word in me, yet even THAT is not enough. I pray MUCH in the Spirit, even THAT leaves me still hungry. Woe is me: I just can’t get all of God that I want.

I walk in the gifts, and the power of the Holy Spirit, seen many mighty miracles, had every material thing I’ve wanted, and yet….that nagging MORE just won’t go away. I’ve been to many churches, hoping for that feeling “BINGO-I FOUND IT!” church. Here’s the answer: it isn’t the church. If the Holy Spirit isn’t there, it’s just a building with people playing “church”. I’ll even expand on that a bit: if the church you’re going to isn’t stirring your spirit to the point of not being able to stand it if you can’t have more of God, and you’re seeking a sign from Him, look up. The sign says EXIT. Use it, and ask God to lead you to where His Holy Spirit is present in every service. Yes, those kinds of churches do exist, but boy, they’re few and far between. Just because a church is close and convenient to where you live, doesn’t mean that’s the church God wants you in.

As I said earlier, this invitation from God is to the “thirsty”, and if you’re not “thirsty” for Him, then this isn’t for you. How do you know when you’ve found that church? Well, for one thing, don’t waste your time thinking you’ve “arrived”. The right church will always leave you thirsting for MORE of God. The right church will not answer all your questions, but they’ll sure create a lot more questions, and will get you searching your Bible like never before. And that’s a good thing!

You see, the Pastor’s job is not to be your “answer”. As a Pastor, I see my job as that of a shepherd who watches carefully over his sheep, who loves them, feeds them, and leads them to clean and safe waters. YOUR job is to open your mouth and drink and feed. If you aren’t “thirsty”, no matter how cool and clear the water is, you won’t drink. If you aren’t “hungry”, all the good food in the world won’t interest you, and you won’t eat. All I can do is present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to you, and it’s up to you to grab onto it. I can’t make you hunger and thirst for God. Only HE can do that, and once you make that first move toward Him, He will.

If you’ll put forth the effort, even a LITTLE effort, to seek God, then I guarantee you will FIND Him. And oh my, when you find Him, hang on for dear life, for you will become like me: never having “enough” of God, always wanting MORE! of Him, because the more you learn of Him, the more there is to learn of Him. You’ll NEVER be full, you’ll always want to know Him MORE! Yes, maybe knowing that what you really need is not the things of this world will disappoint you a little, but once you know that, you won’t waste your time seeking them anymore. Then you’ll get about seeking that which REALLY satisfies. And that’s GOD!

Don’t waste any more of your time seeking the things of this world. Everything here rusts, decays, wears out, and when you die, you won’t take anything with you except what you have with God. Now God will provide what you need here, no worries. He even gives us more than we ask for because He loves us. But the one thing you REALLY need is to be “THIRSTY” for God, and the thirstier the better! Come ye to the waters, and jump right in. Then the adventure begins!
