CHOOSE YOUR POSITION
There’s a battle going on for your soul right now in the spiritual realm, and whether you like it or not, you are going to take a stand. You may think you don’t have any choice in the matter, but the truth is, you do. You can choose to be an overcomer in Christ Jesus, or you can choose to hunker down and hope for the best as the battle rages around you. It isn’t a matter IF you will be attacked by the devil, but WHEN. So you must choose your position.
There are many passive Christians out there. Not many enjoy war. I know I don’t. But if I’m going to be in a war, then I’m in it to WIN, and not to lose. There is no end of battle scarred warriors. Some come back dead, some come back wounded for life, and some come back unscathed by the battle. How is that determined? To a large extent, it’s preparation. When you enter the armed forces, you start undergoing training from the day you get there. You learn to endure discipline, hardship, discomfort, following orders, being pushed to your physical and emotional limits, you are taught to operate weapons of war, you are taught to WIN!
What does that have to do with you and me? Everything. Like I said, there is a battle going on in the heavenlies for your soul. YOUR soul, remember that. YOUR soul will live, or it will be destroyed, and YOU are the one who will determine the outcome. It isn’t the devil’s choice if you will win or lose, it’s YOUR choice. You don’t get to choose when or where you will be in a battle, but you DO get to choose your position. If you’re smart, you will choose the high ground, the winning position.
There are so very many scriptures about warfare in the Bible, and I’d like to start with this one: 2 Chronicles 20:12-15,
12 O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.
13 And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
14 Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation;
15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
There was about to be a battle, and they didn’t have a choice about it either. The first thing we see here is that Judah cried out to the LORD for help, and He told them to not be afraid for the battle was not theirs, but God’s. Why was that? Because they looked to God for their help. Many times we try to battle against the devil in the fleshly realm. And when we do that, we lose every time! YOU HAVE TO STAY IN THE SPIRIT REALM! It is written in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5,
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Did you notice that in verse 4 it says our weapons are mighty through GOD? In order to be an overcomer in this battle for your soul, we cannot use our own logic or weapons, but GOD’S. WE are charged with bringing our every thought into the obedience of Christ. And He is not training us up to LOSE!! Do you see that? He is raising up a mighty army of overcomers, to whom He can give the spoils of war. You may say, “I didn’t sign up to go to war”, but guess what? You’re there, aren’t you? So, like it or not, you must choose your position. Will it be hunker down behind your shield and hope the devil runs out of fiery darts before you run out of shield; or will you start grabbing those fiery darts that are stuck in your shield and start hurling them back at the devil and make HIM hunker down and retreat? It’s YOUR choice…..
As in serving in the Armed Forces, you don’t go to battle at your own expense, you are provided with training and everything you need to overcome your enemy. So it is in God’s Army. Here, have a look at your battle equipment listed in Ephesians 6:10-17,
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
And you think God has left you abandoned without defense? NO! You CAN overcome. The question is, WILL YOU? That helmet of salvation is harder than your head, even, and knowing you, that’s pretty hard! The Word of God will protect you from the discouragement and lies of the devil, and the sword of the Spirit, that is, the Word of God, is NOT just a defensive weapon, but an OFFENSIVE, OVERPOWERING, OVERWHELMING, UNDEFEATABLE weapon. But YOU have to use it, as it will not draw itself and fight for you.
You can either take the battle to the devil and fight it on your terms, or you can let him bring the battle to you, and fight it on his terms. Me, I choose to be an overcomer and be the last man standing when the dust has cleared. I don’t have the luxury of sitting the battle out, so if I have to be in it, I choose to take the LORD with me into battle, so when it’s over, I will have not only the victory, but the spoils of war as well.
If you’re battling sickness in your body, remember, Christ Jesus bore all your diseases in your place, what are YOU doing with them? Well, you have them because Satan is trying to get you to battle him by the power of your flesh. And you’re going to lose if he can keep you in the physical realm. You can’t beat him when you’re trying to fight the battle on your own. Unless GOD is your doctor, then you’re going to battle poorly armed. But if you drag Satan into the battleground of the Spirit, he is helpless as Jesus already defeated him by being resurrected from the dead by His Father.
You see, when Satan had Jesus crucified, he though he had Jesus beat. Had he known and believed Jesus would rise from the dead, he would not have had Him crucified, for by the resurrection of Jesus, the devil lost the battle, AND the war. It is finished. The devil is defeated. So when Satan draws YOU into war, he’s hoping you won’t use God’s weapons against him. He will continually war against your flesh and your mind, so as to fight you on his terms.
Choose your position, Warrior! Drag Satan by the hair into the realm of the Spirit where he is already defeated, and declare your own victory over him, using the Sword of the Spirit to take his head off! You’re an overcomer, God created you to be so. Stop hiding behind your shield, and come out swinging that Sword and put the devil on the run! He’s no match for a Son or Daughter of God and he knows it. And it’s high time YOU know it!
In closing, it is written in Revelation 21:7-8 says, He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and the unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolators, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
So there you have it from the SOURCE: CHOOSE YOUR POSITION!

Great word Brother Jerry!

Nicely reasoned and presented. Thank you, Brother Jerry. This speaks to me concerning some things I’m going through. I’m more conscious than ever that this walk is a walk in which we war against the Enemy as he tries to pull us off the walk of trust in, and obedience to, the Lord. As we trust and obey, Christ will bring us the victory, we will bind the strongman and spoil all his goods because Christ already bound him at Calvary and His victory becomes our victory. AMEN. 🙂
