OVERCOMING FEAR

Today, when asking the LORD what to write,  the subject of “fear” came up.  Fear, you know, when you read something or hear something or see something that makes your stomach turn over and you start to shake all over, and that hot feeling comes all over you…yes, THAT fear.  We’ve all been there, and it isn’t a nice feeling, and God doesn’t want us to experience it ever again. DO NOT WORRY

We are told by the Lord Jesus not to have worry or anxiety about things. Yeah, I know, it’s easy to say, but hard to do, right? Well, it doesn’t HAVE to be. I think of it like this; if God be for me, who can be against me? And if God be FOR me, WHO CARES who’s against me? So why worry, when God has me covered? And that would be a good attitude for YOU to have, as well. It is written in Matthew 6:24-34,

WHEN YOU THINK OF ME

As I was returning home today, I asked the LORD what I am to write about in my newsletter. He quickly answered, “When you think of Me”. That almost strikes me as a question, as in, “When I think of the LORD, what are my thoughts?”

TRUST THE BLOOD

This is an unprecedented time in our history, where the pestilence called COVID-19 is spreading throughout the world, thanks to being released from a laboratory in China. Some have died from it, and the whole world seems to be in panic about it. Because of panic, stores have been emptied by people hoarding supplies, instead of just buying what they need. There are cities issuing orders not to travel, and to remain at home. And though the virus is bad, it nowhere approaches the level of infection and death of prior viruses that have gone around, and yet the panic is much worse this time. Why? Mostly because of people’s mouths.

WHAT ARE YOU FEEDING YOUR FAITH?

What are you feeding your faith? If your faith is going to work for you when you need it, then it must be well-fed and ready at all times. Now consider your physical body; if you expect it to work and do what you want, you must feed it, right? If you starve your body, it will get weaker and weaker each passing day, until you can’t even get out of bed and walk anymore. Of course, most people don’t starve their body, in fact, many are grossly overweight. They make sure they get plenty to eat. And if they fed their faith as much as they feed their body, they would be spiritual giants.

CONSIDER HIM

Today I’d like to start with an encouraging scripture, found in Hebrews 12:1-3,
1  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3  For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Continue Reading »

GOD HAS A BETTER PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE

We all make plans, no matter what our race or where we live, we all plan our days, don’t we? Most of the time our “plan” is centered around what WE want to do.  Maybe it’s as simple as finding something to eat, or shelter;  a place to call home.  We all have our hopes, our dreams, but sometimes the best laid plans don’t work.  Then what? WHY ARE YOU WORRIED?

There is a magazine which has a cartoon character on the cover, whose motto is, “WHAT-ME WORRY?” Maybe you remember it.  I remember reading that when I was a little boy, but somehow, growing up changed all that.  My Mom was a world-champion worrier, and though I said I’d never end up like that, guess what?  I did.  Guess it runs in the family.  In fact, it runs in a LOT of families.  Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to go back to those worry-free days of childhood again?  Well, we can’t go back to childhood, but we CAN be worry-free.  Yes, you read that right, WORRY-FREE! WHAT IS YOUR EXCUSE?

In John chapter five we can read about a man who was an invalid for thirty eight years. Now thirty eight years is a very long time to be suffering.  Over the years I’ve met many people who have been suffering from various infirmities, and there is one thing common among them: they all want to be well.  Now there are some who hold to the belief that they are suffering because God has given them a thorn in the flesh like the Apostle Paul dealt with.  Some actually believe they are sick because it gives glory to God, yet it is those who are constantly running to the doctor trying to get will.  But it seems rather strange to me that if sickness gives glory to God, why did the Lord Jesus go about HEALING the sick?  That would be a good one to explore today. HEART OF GOLD, BURDEN OF LEAD

Most of us know someone who would give the shirt off their back to help someone in need, who is always quick to help and lend a hand. You might describe them as having a heart of gold.  In fact, you might even be one of them. They are usually quick to help someone bear their burdens, a very selfless person who puts the needs of others before their own needs.  Does that sound like anyone you know?  But what about their own burdens; are they carrying around a burden of lead while they help others?  That is often the case.
