How often we put our confidence in what people tell us, even without knowing that person. Let’s say you’re traveling in another state and you’re out in the boonies and you get lost, what do you do? Most likely you will ask someone for directions, unless you’re a man that is, because you know men NEVER get lost, right?

We all love to hear how much God loves us, don’t we? A lot has changed in the way we live our daily lives since the first disciples of Jesus walked the earth. It is written that they didn’t exactly live the “abundant” lives that the preachers preach today. In fact, life was not very pleasant for them at all, according to 1 Corinthians 4:9-14. Jesus talked about those who would be His disciples should take up their cross and follow Him. And obviously, those people did.

As children, no doubt, we all pretended to be cowboys, or Indians, or princes or princesses, or policemen or firemen or something else. We were so much into our role playing that we thought we were really all of those things, so we know what it’s like. But do you know what? There are two words that you will NEVER find together in the Bible, and that is “GOD” and “PRETENDED”.

The Lord Jesus taught multitudes by parables, but with those parables, He revealed things that had been hidden from the people, mysteries if you will. And those who had “ears to hear”, the very secrets of creation were revealed. One particular parable Jesus taught was about “sowing”, and I’d like to use it today.

Most everywhere you look, you see someone protesting against something. Now, protesting can be good, if it’s protesting against evil. But most protesting we see today is simply people wanting their own way. They don’t care what someone else wants, it’s their way or the highway. And that mindset has been around ever since the Garden of Eden. And to God, it stinks, or “stinketh”, as King James would say.

I’d like to show you how prayer, praise, and blessings are all connected. We all like blessings, right? Let’s take time to explore the very nature of God. Most of us have heard the fire and brimstone sermons about the judgment of God, right? Unfortunately, I heard about that side of God many years before I heard about His loving nature. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that nobody wants to pray to an angry God who they think is out to make everyone a crispy critter. Needless to say, that wouldn’t make anyone want to praise Him, either, unless it was simply out of fear of being sent to hell. And yet, that is the god I was first introduced to.

“Why won’t God heal me?” is probably the question I hear the most. It may surprise you to know that God wants you healed even more than YOU want to be healed. So what’s the holdup? Well, it sure isn’t God. Whenever there’s a problem between us and God, the problem is always on our end.

It is written in Isaiah 55:11, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” I’m often asked, “OK then, when someone prays or speaks the promises of God, and they don’t see it happen, what’s with that?” So that’s our subject today.
