CLOSER THAN YOU THINK

Every day that passes brings us closer to the day of the return of Christ Jesus.  It’s safe to say we’re closer today than we were yesterday.  The Bible says in Matthew 24:36-42,
32  Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
33  So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
34  Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
35  Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36  But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
37  But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38  For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39  And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
40  Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
41  Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
42  Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. Continue Reading »

BECOME WISE

Ever since man was created, God has been making His wisdom available to them.  In the Garden of Eden, God gave Adam dominion over all the earth, with only ONE “Thou shalt not”, concerning the tree of knowledge of good and evil.  God was setting Adam up for a wonderful life, and warning him to leave that tree alone.  Then God created Eve and brought her to Adam, and she was also given the warning to leave that tree alone.  So what happened?  We all know the story, they disobeyed God and ate of the tree they were told to leave alone. They threw wisdom out the window.  It is written in Proverbs 1:2-7, Continue Reading »

FREEDOM ISN’T FREE

During the month of July, the United States celebrates FREEDOM.  But before you can celebrate “freedom”, you must first know what it is.  Freedom is defined as: “the power to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint, the absence of subjection, and the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.” Well, everyone wants to be free, right?  But whose freedoms are being taken away by us exercising OUR freedom? FOR THE JOY SET BEFORE US

It is natural to get discouraged from time to time as the devil hurls his arrows at us, and he uses that to distract us from our main purpose in life, and that is to daily grow closer to the LORD.  It is written in Hebrews 12:1-2,
1  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Continue Reading »

SIZZLE OR FIZZLE?

How is your relationship with the Lord Jesus today? Does it sizzle, or fizzle?  Usually I work my way up to the subject, but today I want you to realize we don’t have time to waste.  We know Jesus is coming back, but when?  It could be today, it could be in several hundred years, but each of us have our own “expiration date”, and it could be right now, we just don’t know.  Do you have a guarantee of tomorrow?  I don’t, and neither do you.  So we should be taking care of the most important matters in our lives FIRST, and our soul is our most important possession. THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

We hear so much about “blessings”.  What exactly are they, and whom do they pertain to, and how do we get them?  After all, we want to be blessed, right?  Well, the Old Testament talks a lot about blessings, and God always tells us in His Word, that His blessings are for those who are diligent to obey His Voice.  Here is just a small sampling of blessings from Deuteronomy 28:1-14: Continue Reading »

COME AND DINE

Most everyone I know likes to eat.  You seldom hear of anyone turning down an invitation to a nice meal, do you?  Well, today you are cordially being invited to “come and dine” at a really nice place, and you don’t have to pay the bill, and you don’t have to leave a tip, and you don’t have to help with the dishes.  The table is most richly furnished and everything you could need is is there.  All we need is YOU!
Ok, you say, what’s the catch?  Glad you asked.  After all, there’s no such thing as a “free lunch”, right?  That’s right.  Someone else footed the bill for this invitation, and it sure wasn’t you.  Nevertheless, the offer is valid and is extended to “whosoever will” come.  That means if you’re short, tall, pretty, ugly, not too smart, rich, poor, lame or lazy, you are invited.  Everything is now ready, come grab a seat and dig in! HAVE ANOTHER LOOK AT THE SABBATH

There is a story in John chapter 5 about a man who was sick for thirty eight years, and Jesus met him on the Sabbath.  The Bible doesn’t tell us exactly what the sickness was, or how he ended up with it, only that Jesus loosed him from that burden on the Sabbath.  Let’s read about it here: Continue Reading »
