SEEK PEACE

When was the last time that someone said something to you that rubbed you the wrong way, and you just let it go? It seems to be against our nature to overlook wrongs done to us. We can look around and see all the discontent and rioting going on and know for certain that people just do not have a forgiving attitude. IN ALL THINGS GIVE THANKS

Ever have one of those days that just doesn’t go the way you planned?  Today I was on my way to Oklahoma to a ministry conference, and my vehicle started vibrating badly like the driveshaft was out of balance.  It seemed like at any moment it might come out of there and pass me.  So my trip was interrupted to spend the night at a hotel out of town.  Hopefully it will be a simple and inexpensive repair, and I’ll be back on my way tomorrow.  Funny thing, most of the day a song has been going through my mind, “And in all things give Him thanks…..” Yeah, I guess that means even when your vehicle breaks.  Don’t get me wrong: I’m not thankful FOR the trouble, but I’m thankful IN the trouble.  Maybe it’s just a test.  Maybe it’s the devil trying to aggravate me, but I’m going to aggravate him back by praising God.  And if it isn’t the devil behind it, that’s ok, I’m going to praise God anyway, because it’s the right thing to do. HOW DO YOU KNOW?

People have many ideas about how to determine if someone is really a follower of Christ Jesus. And of course, if you happen to be a minister, the bar is set higher.  Some make that determination based on how big a church a pastor might have, or how many followers they have on Facebook, or how many times they’ve been on TV. Others might say, Wow, they’re really anointed; they have a jet (or more than one)!  Another might base their opinion on how many books they have published, or how many letters follow their name.  But does any of that matter to God?
