GETTING THE MOST OUT OF THE WORD OF GOD

Everyone wants to get the most value they can out of whatever they have, and that’s just wisdom.  After all, you wouldn’t buy a new computer and put it on your desk to only serve as a paperweight, would you?  No, you’d plug it in and put it to work doing the tasks it was created to perform.  But yet we have the mightiest tool in the universe available to help us, God’s Word, and we don’t use it to do what it was created to do.  Why is that? WHATSOEVER YOU ASK IN JESUS’ NAME

Could it possibly be that Jesus means exactly what He says, and says exactly what He means?  Today let’s consider something the Lord Jesus said, not once, but twice.  It is written in John 14:12-15,
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.  Continue Reading »

ONE MORE TRIP AROUND THE MOUNTAIN

How many times must we hear the Word of God before it actually changes our lives?  Time and time again I hear the sad stories of people who keep going around the same old mountain, unable to break free of the past.  Some would go so far as to say, “the mountain is getting higher”.  No, the mountain isn’t getting any higher, but the rut you’re in just keeps getting deeper.  And do you know what?  Every time you go around that mountain, the rut will be deeper than it was the time before.  Is there any hope for lasting change?  Glad you asked! GO, JOHN!

This morning while enjoying a quick breakfast at McDonalds with my wife, I clearly heard a couple words in my spirit, so clearly that I looked up to see who had spoken to me.  Those words were “GO JOHN”  Initially that kind of puzzled me because we have many people named “John” on our ministry’s mailing list, although one particular John came to mind immediately, who I called and left a message for.  But even if your name isn’t John, this message can be for you.  Continue Reading »

THE FORCE OF FAITH

Are the children of the Kingdom of God supposed to just sit around being passive, and letting whatever happens to them, happen? After all, we are told to be wise as serpents, gentle as doves.  Does that mean we are supposed to be the devil’s doormats?  Continue Reading »

DO YOU BELIEVE?

When was the last time you asked yourself; Do I really believe everything that is written in the Bible?  You may not have ever done so before, but everything you need from God hinges on your ability to reply YES without any reservation whatsoever. Continue Reading »

HAVE YOU MADE PLANS?

While praying last night, I heard in my spirit, Have you made plans for tomorrow?  I said, Not really, why?  I thought perhaps the Lord had an assignment for me or somewhere He wanted me to go.  Then I heard, Because if YOU’VE made plans for tomorrow, then you can’t say Jesus is your Lord, YOU are.  That kind of shocked me for a moment, but He certainly knows how to get my attention.  I realized something very important: if Christ Jesus is indeed my Lord and Savior, then He should be the one planning my life, not me. JESUS NEVER CHANGES

Most people enjoy going “back home” to where they grew up just so they can find some familiarity, but often things are not the same anymore.  Last year I went to see my childhood home, and had an image in my mind of how it was when I left.  Guess what?  It changed!  My childhood friends had all turned into old geezers, except for me, of course.  Continue Reading »

WHY WAIT?

In the past I have written about the virtues of waiting on God, and here are some examples from the scriptures:
Psa 27:14  Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
Psa 52:9  I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.
Lam 3:25  The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
Lam 3:26  It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
However, “waiting on the Lord” does not mean idly and passively sitting by twiddling your thumbs while waiting for Him to do something.  Continue Reading »

HOW LONG, O LORD?

Do you consider yourself to be a patient person?    When I became a follower of Jesus, the Holy Spirit revealed that area of my life could use improvement.  Ok, Ok, I needed a complete overhaul, but you have to start somewhere, right?  Continue Reading »
