There’s an old saying, ‘A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush”, which I’ve heard from childhood. And yes, I was young once, believe it or not. Anyway, that saying popped up in my mind a while ago, so that’s what I’ll write about today.

Many people tell me they are “waiting on God”. So they won’t do a thing until they get a nudge from God. Therefore, they never do anything for God because that nudge never comes. And that’s because God is waiting on them to get about doing the work of the Kingdom of God. With all the talk about the “rapture”, many Christians have their mind on getting raptured out of here so they don’t have to go through the tribulation. But how does that line up with the Word of God?

Our words define our world, whether we think so or not. I was preaching some about that last week at church. An example I gave of that was, suppose your wife cooked your favorite meal, and you gave her a glowing compliment about how good it was. You can bet she will appreciate that, and will be very pleased with you. But suppose you told her, “That was the worst thing I’ve ever tasted, are you trying to poison me?” I’d imagine you’d be sleeping on the couch tonight, maybe tomorrow too.

As I listen to those around me, many speak of problem areas in their lives, and I tell them God has a solution, but most say, “Maybe so, but that’s the truth.” Well, that may be “their reality”, but does that line up with “God’s reality”?
