CONSIDER HIM

Today I’d like to start with an encouraging scripture, found in Hebrews 12:1-3,
1  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3  For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Continue Reading »

GOD HAS A BETTER PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE

We all make plans, no matter what our race or where we live, we all plan our days, don’t we? Most of the time our “plan” is centered around what WE want to do.  Maybe it’s as simple as finding something to eat, or shelter;  a place to call home.  We all have our hopes, our dreams, but sometimes the best laid plans don’t work.  Then what? WHY ARE YOU WORRIED?

There is a magazine which has a cartoon character on the cover, whose motto is, “WHAT-ME WORRY?” Maybe you remember it.  I remember reading that when I was a little boy, but somehow, growing up changed all that.  My Mom was a world-champion worrier, and though I said I’d never end up like that, guess what?  I did.  Guess it runs in the family.  In fact, it runs in a LOT of families.  Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to go back to those worry-free days of childhood again?  Well, we can’t go back to childhood, but we CAN be worry-free.  Yes, you read that right, WORRY-FREE! WHAT IS YOUR EXCUSE?

In John chapter five we can read about a man who was an invalid for thirty eight years. Now thirty eight years is a very long time to be suffering.  Over the years I’ve met many people who have been suffering from various infirmities, and there is one thing common among them: they all want to be well.  Now there are some who hold to the belief that they are suffering because God has given them a thorn in the flesh like the Apostle Paul dealt with.  Some actually believe they are sick because it gives glory to God, yet it is those who are constantly running to the doctor trying to get will.  But it seems rather strange to me that if sickness gives glory to God, why did the Lord Jesus go about HEALING the sick?  That would be a good one to explore today. LISTEN TO AND OBEY THE LORD

There is a lot of people talking fear in many places.  And like a bad cold, fear is contagious to all who listen.  All you have to do is turn on the news and you will hear bad news after bad news.  Does the devil indeed have the upper hand in the world today?  Is God on the losing side?  That depends on who you ask.  By the way some people talk, God is all washed up, the devil has already won, and it’s all downhill from here for God’s children.  And Daniel 7:25 was even used to verify that.  Let’s just look at that verse and a couple others for a minute, ok? THE COST OF FEAR

There are two types of fear I’d like to talk about today.  There is “the fear of the LORD”, and there is every other kind of fear which has nothing to do with the LORD.  The Bible says “the fear of the LORD” leads to wisdom. That means any other type of fear is not productive for us. Here are just a few scriptures from Proverbs about “the fear of the LORD”. Continue Reading »

LIVING ABOVE NEED

You can read in the news of failing economies in various countries, of lack and need everywhere you look. Is that how God created the earth to operate?  Or is it the result of how mankind has made it?  And if it is mankind’s fault, what can be done to remedy the problem? Continue Reading »

THE PRICE OF ANXIETY

Worry and anxiety are subjects that I have over 40 years of experience with, so that makes me an expert of sorts, doesn’t it?  However, admittedly my experience is somewhat out of date, because when I came to the LORD in 1993, He invited me to cast my cares upon Him, so I did.  Simple, huh?  Don’t you wish everything was this easy?
