The Holy Bible is full of promises to us, but unless we put them to use, they are only words on a page.  I have an old Tee shirt that says, “The Word works wonders when the workman works the Word”.  The exact opposite is true as well, if we don’t work the Word of God, it produces no wonders for us.  The first wonder the Word will work for us is salvation, IF WE WORK THE WORD.

It is written in Romans 10:8-13,

 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

We see there are specific instructions in the Word of God that we must follow in order to reap the benefits of the promises.  The most important promise of course is salvation, but salvation is only the beginning.  Isaiah 28:10 says, For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

In reality, the Word of God is like a bottomless bank account that you cannot possibly overdraw.  The more you learn in the Word, and the more you work it, the more it produces.  I cannot find anywhere in God’s Word where it says “you can go this far and no more”.  How do you “work the Word”?   By getting it into your heart, and speaking it with your mouth.  First things first, get it into your heart.  Why?  Well, that’s simple: Jesus said in Luke 6:43-49,

43  For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

44  For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

45  A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

46  And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

47  Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:

48  He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

49  But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

You see, what we put in our heart will come out of our mouth, and what comes out of our mouth determines the life we will live, because God created mankind in His own image.  He created us to form our world by our words.  Now before you write me off as lunatic, consider this: let’s suppose you tell your boss at work that you appreciate your job and co-workers, that will help create a good work atmosphere.  But suppose instead, you tell your boss what a jerk he is, and that all your co-workers are also jerks, well, you tell me what the outcome will be….

When we put the Word of God into our heart, it can’t help but come out of our mouth, and produce what was spoken.  If we use our words to gripe and complain, “I’m so broke, I can’t even pay attention”, those aren’t God’s words, so they can’t produce Godly results.  And yet, people spend the majority of their words in agreement with the world, and then they’re upset that things aren’t going well for them.  The world is full of anger, strife, depression, sadness, hopelessness, sickness, and backbiting.  So it will try to get in your heart, and when it does, it will come out in your words, and guess what?  Those words, like seeds, will reproduce after their own kind.  And believe me, you don’t want a harvest of that!

I’ve harped on this subject many times, so why do I continue to do so?  Because so many just aren’t getting it!  They want a better life, but they’re not doing what it takes to HAVE a better life!

Right off the bat in Genesis 1:26-28, it is written,

26  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Exactly HOW did God establish everything?  BY HIS WORDS!  You will notice that in the first chapter of Genesis alone, it is written “AND GOD SAID….” ten times.  In verse 31, it says, “AND GOD SAW….”  What did He see?  He saw the results of what He said.  Now lots of people say, “Well, I just say it like I see it…”

In Genesis 1:2-3 it is written, 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3  And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

What if GOD said, Well, I just say it like I see it….?  It was DARK out there, and God COULD have said, Wow it’s dark, I can’t see a thing out there!  But He didn’t!  He said, LET THERE BE LIGHT, and there was light.

When God speaks, things change.  As beings created in HIS image, when we speak, things change, only we’re not mindful to speak what God speaks most of the time, so we don’t get results like God gets.  And that’s the whole problem!  Instead, we spout off what the world says, and wonder why we keep getting what the world says!  It’s a law that God made, that every seed reproduces after its own kind.  You don’t plant tomato seeds and get giraffes.  You don’t plant corn and get green beans.  Each seed is only able to reproduce after its own kind.

YOUR WORDS reproduce after their own kind!  They have no other choice!  God didn’t give them any other choice when He created everything.  Now if God himself works within these parameters, do you think YOU are exempt from them?  I rest my case.

Get into God’s Word and find out for yourself all the wonderful promises that are available to you. I could list them for you, but if you want them, you will search for them as hidden treasure.  Actually, they’re not hidden at all, they’re right in plain sight for those who will read His Word.  Then SPEAK them, and watch those seeds reproduce after their own kind in your life.

And KEEP speaking them.  Don’t be like the person who plants tomato seeds on Monday, comes out Tuesday and doesn’t see a harvest, so they dig up the seeds and plant new ones.  Keep doing that and you’ll NEVER see a harvest.  Don’t let your mouth ruin your harvest like most people do.  One might say on Monday, “I’m healed by the stripes of Jesus”, then on Tuesday, “Well, I thought I was healed, but there’s no change”.  That person just negated the Word of God, and then they tell people, “I tried speaking the Word, but it just didn’t do anything.”  Instead of going forward, they did the “politician dance”, one step forward, two steps sideways, and one step backwards.  They end up no better at all, and then have the audacity to blame God for the words THEY spoke, which reproduced after their own kind.  Don’t do that.  Work the Word ONLY and it will work wonders for you!
