When you are faced with circumstances seemingly beyond your control, who do you believe?  We all have friends and family who will be quick to offer their advice on any given situation.  While a wealthy person may be able to give you some good advise on finances, that same person might not be the one you’d want to ask about a plumbing problem.  An area of expertise in one area does not guarantee expertise in another.  You want to go to the one who is an expert in doing what you need done, that not only knows how to do the job, but has a track record of getting positive results.

For example, you can learn from a book about an airplane, what all the gauges are, what their purposes are, what all the flight rules are, and what procedures you use to plot a course from point A to point B.  You can read how to take off and land without ever having been inside an airplane. Now, would you get in an airplane with that person who just finished reading the book, and let them fly you and your family across the state?  Not me, friend, I want someone with experience!

We will say you’re faced with a medical problem; you have several options open to you.  One, you could ask a friend what to do.   He might advise you to go fishing, after all, a good day fishing does wonders for a person.  If he’s a banker, he might tell you to get a loan, you’re going to need it.  Another option is what most people do, they go to the doctor, and just do whatever the nice doctor tells them, without question.  Ever notice doctors call their business a “practice”?  How many people must they “practice” on before they actually know what to do?  Does a mechanic “practice” on your car?  No, they fix it. And only after they fix it, do they get paid. So why does a doctor get paid before he fixes you, or even if he doesn’t fix you?  That doesn’t happen in any other profession.

But the main thing is, whose opinion are you going to trust your life to?  So many times, people going to the doctor will end up asking for a second opinion, or a third or more.  And most likely, each will have a different answer, and the worst part is, none of them are guaranteed to be correct, because we are dealing with man’s knowledge.      But there’s a better way.

We can go to the Word of God.  You may say, “You mean it’s come to THAT??”  Yes.  For me, running to God isn’t the last resort, but the first.  We read about the woman who had an issue of blood for twelve years, in Mark 5:25-34 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,  And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.  For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.  And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.  And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?  And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.

But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.  And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague

Does this scenario look familiar today?  She had gone through what many have, going from doctor to doctor spending her money, and getting no cure, but rather getting worse.  Instead of seeking God first, she sought Him last.  And guess what? All that time God had the cure!  And for FREE, even!  She spent twelve years suffering needlessly.   I’m not saying it’s wrong to go to a doctor, but let me tell you what, if going to the first doctor didn’t cure me, I wouldn’t waste my time going to a second one.  The medical profession tells us one in three get cancer, yet, we don’t see one in three doctors dying with cancer, do we?  That tells me they may not necessarily be in business to cure you, but to keep you coming back.  After all, it’s good for business.

To me, it makes much better sense just to forget the doctor, and go to God, who created our body in the first place.  After all, when your car breaks, the best place to take it for repair is to the manufacturer.  Why?  They know how fix it, because they built it.  Why take it to someplace where they spend the day guessing what the problem is, selling you parts until they get lucky, or you run out of money?  You might as well take it to the plumber.

Remember, the Doctor is in business to stay in business, and so are the hospitals.  After all, if they cured all sickness and disease, who would need them, and pay their salaries?  You know, Porsches and Ferraris don’t come cheap.  A couple years ago, a friend of mine was going to the doctor, and I went with him.  I asked him, which is your doctor’s car?  He said what does it matter?  I said, I’ll bet if your doctor’s car is more than 2 years old, he wants a new one, any guess who’s going to pay for it.  Sure enough, his car was 5 years old and my friend was told he needed surgery.   But God doesn’t want or need your money, nor does He need a new car.  He wants your TRUST.  And He deserves it.  Tell me, when was the last time God lied to you, hmmmmm?

Which brings me to this; Psalm 103:2-5 says, Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:  Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

God’s promise to those who believe is that the Lord Jesus bore all your sins upon Himself, removing them completely from you forever.  God will never mention your sins to you again, ever, period.  (By the way, the next time you’re condemned about your past sins, know it’s the devil doing it, not God.)  And, from the moment you believed, your every disease was also placed upon the Lord Jesus that you will ever face for the rest of your life.  That means ALL, every one of them PUT UPON THE LORD JESUS, instead of YOU.  Therefore, the moment I believed, the Lord Jesus took all my diseases.  And I haven’t been sick even once since.

Now, I could believe the doctors and go get a flu shot every year, because they say the flu is going around.  Instead, I choose to believe God, who said Jesus bore all my diseases.  That means yes, the flu is going around, but it’s going AROUND me, and not IN me.  For me, disease no longer exists.  I like that a lot.  Living disease-free is wonderful, you ought to try it.  Better yet, you ought to do it, not just try it.   Sometimes people get all huffy and ask me, “Who do you think you are, thinking you never have to be sick?  Everybody gets sick sometimes.”  I don’t…. I’m a child of God, in covenant with the Lord Jesus, that’s who!” And you can be, too, if you just will believe God’s opinion.  And you won’t need a second opinion, save your money.  He’s never wrong.

It’s up to you, who are YOU going to believe?
