There have been many words of prophecy spoken to people “in the name of the LORD” that have failed to come true, and then people give God a bad reputation because “He didn’t keep His Word.”  Let me tell you something: the LORD backs up HIS Word absolutely, but He isn’t obligated to back up the words of false prophets.  The LORD has something to say about those who prophesy falsely in His name.

Deu 18:19  And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
You notice that God holds you accountable for what you know His Word says, to obey it.
Deu 18:20  But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
Deu 18:21  And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?
Deu 18:22  When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

Speaking in the name of the LORD is a very serious responsibility, which many do just for personal profit, or for fame. Personally, it scares me to say “the LORD said…” for my very life depends on the accuracy of what I prophesy. I’d better be REAL SURE “the LORD said” or else not say it at all.  But if what I tell you is indeed what the LORD said, I can do so boldly, for it will surely come to pass just as the LORD said.  Like it says in Psalm 18:30, the word of the LORD is tried and true, and we can put all our confidence in it, for God is not a man that He should lie.

Why is it these days, when people read the Word of God that the fear of God does not fall upon them to believe?  It’s because so many have spoken presumptuously in His name those things which the LORD did not really say.  As a result, people have become jaded and can no longer discern between the true Word of God, and lies.  In fact, they would rather hear a false word if it suits what they really want to hear. Jer 5:31  The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

I can tell you what you will do in the end thereof: you will miss out on all the joy of knowing the LORD, and you will miss out on all His benefits.  There are pastors out there who manipulate the people of their congregations so they may bear rule over them.  Instead of bring freedom into their lives, they bring oppression and lack.  And the people endure being “used” while being led further and further away from the LORD, and sooner or later they will walk away from the LORD altogether, because what their “prophets” have told them such-and-such, and it never comes to pass.  Take “prosperity” for example.  Some tell you that what you give, God will multiply a hundredfold back to you, using Matthew 13:23 as the promise of prosperity;
Mat 13:23  But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Sadly, there are people who just eat that verse up, not because they truly want to serve the LORD, but because they want to be rich, so they will give and give and give, believing to receive a hundredfold return on their investment, somewhat like using God for the lottery jackpot.  But notice it says “some” an hundredfold, “some” sixty, “some” thirty.  That means “some” don’t get ANY increase.  But they don’t fill you in on that part, do they?  That is a very powerful verse to the ones who understand it, who have received it “on good ground”.  God wasn’t talking about money, He was talking about the results of receiving His WORD.

Certainly God will deal with all the false prophets out there, and it isn’t going to be pretty when He does.  What harm do false prophets do?  The end result is people don’t take God at His Word any longer, for they have seen the things that have not come to pass.  They lose the respect and awe of the LORD, and because men have lied to them, they think God is no different.
Many have missed out on their healing because they simply don’t take God at His Word.  Look again at Psalm 18:30; As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. The key word here is TRUST.  How do you trust the Word of God when the world is full of false prophets, telling you “the LORD said…” and then it doesn’t happen?  The best way to build trust in God is to get in His Word like a starving man goes after a loaf of bread.  He won’t waste a crumb.  He will focus every bit of his attention on that loaf of bread until it is fully assimilated.  He won’t ask, “Is this truly bread?”  No, he will simply devour it.

The Word of the LORD is tried and found true: He is a buckler and shield to ALL that trust in Him.  You need not fear any of God’s Word falling to the ground, unfulfilled.  It isn’t going to happen.  God’s Word works every time, for all who will use it.  “Whosoever will” is the term the Lord Jesus used.  That means God’s Word will work as good for you as it does for me.
Do yourself a big favor: set aside quality, uninterrupted time each day to study God’s Word.  Settle in your heart that His Word is true, for if you don’t do that from the very start, the devil will use every opportunity to plant unbelief and doubt in your heart, rendering the Word of God useless in your life.  Notice I said YOUR life.  You will see others healed around you, yet it won’t come to pass for you, for your trust in God is defective. It’s all about trust, like I said earlier.  I never have to worry about the devil getting the upper hand in my life, for my trust in the LORD is sure.  He is faithful and true.  Your best bet is to put less trust in “prophets” and simply read the Word for yourself.

I write these articles, not to give you the “pre-digested” Word of God from the revelations God has given me over the years, but rather to stir your heart to get in the Word like I do, grabbing onto the Word like a starving man, and letting the Word have its full effect on your life.  After all, you DO want all His BENEFITS, right?  Get into the Word and find them for yourself. Get the truth right at its source, you don’t need to go through a middle-man.  Be a miner in the Word, digging for “nuggets” like I do every day.  I’m not asking you to be a follower of Jerry, but rather to be a follower of Christ Jesus.  You will be amazed at how much God loves you and how He delights in having a relationship with you.  If you don’t get anything else out of this article, get this: ; As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
