If you’re buying a piece of property, the first thing you need is a survey to find out what you are buying, right? You want to know what belongs to you, and what does not. After all, you don’t want to build your dream home in part of your neighbor’s yard. But yet, that is what many Christians are trying to do. Can you imagine the mess you would have after getting your home built and moving into it, when the neighbor came over and said that half of your home is in his yard?
You see, many Christians try to live like they have no boundaries. They don’t know what belongs to the Kingdom of God, and what belongs to the Kingdom of the world. Or maybe they know, and just don’t want to honor the property line. What’s the danger in that? Well, in the natural world, suppose you bought a property and didn’t like the house sitting on the edge of it, so thinking it’s on your property, you decided to burn it down. But had you bothered to check, you would have found that it is not on your property after all, but belongs to your neighbor. And he just came home to find his house burned down, and he’s not real happy about it. Would researching a boundary line and honoring it have saved you some trouble?

Sure it would have. And it works in the spiritual realm as well.
I’ve been recently preaching on 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 which says, “Know ye not that ye are the temple of GOD, and that the Spirit of GOD dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of GOD, him shall GOD destroy; for the temple of GOD is Holy, which temple ye are.” And if this isn’t about boundaries, I don’t know what is. While some have taken this teaching in love and applied it to their lives, others have not. Listen, this isn’t a suggestion from GOD, it’s a promise. The LORD recently told me, “Jerry, I’ve given you a world-wide ministry. Do you want to be popular, or do you want to help people get to heaven?” I told Him, LORD, I want to help people get to heaven. He told me then I’d have to tell people some things they would not want to hear. But I’m not holding a popularity contest. I have a job to do, and you’re it. He said He wants to come for His Church, but they’re not ready. So I’m trying to get you ready, and get me ready, too, while I’m at it. You see, I’m not perfect either. You can ask my wife. On the other hand don’t ask my wife….
Jesus said in Matthew 6:24, “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other, ye cannot serve two masters.” Being Jesus himself said that, I buy that as the Gospel truth. My friends, we cannot, must not, try to live with one foot in the world, and one foot in the Kingdom of God. It can’t be done! There are people who want to live like the rest of the world lives and wake up one day in heaven. I tell you, there are going to be some rude awakenings unless there is a lot of repentance going on. Remember this little eye opener that Jesus said in Matthew 7:21-23?
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

Perhaps I should explain these verses; there are people who call themselves Christians, who go to church every week, who “talk the talk” but don’t “walk the walk”. Oh, they think they will slide in to home plate and the umpire will call them safe because they belong to such and such church. They will do some of what GOD wants, but not be completely obedient to Him. But in that day when they stand before Jesus, they will be told to depart from Him because they wanted their way more than GOD’s way. They loved their beer, or their cigarettes, or their pornography, or their gambling, or gossip, or lies more than Holiness.

They knew enough of the Bible to know what GOD requires, but just didn’t want to give it up and do it His way. And they NEVER think Holiness need apply to them. And in the process of letting their “light shine before men” they will run more people away from GOD than they will bring to Him. How can I say something that rude? Because the very people they are trying to win for Jesus will see them living in compromise with GOD’S word and think if “Christians” can do it, then it’s ok if they do it, too. It’s what Jesus called “the blind leading the blind, and they shall both fall in the ditch.”

Listen, my beloved friends, compromise will lead you to death! I’ve said this before, and I’ll keep on saying it, if you are a Christian, stop driving over the speed limit. I don’t care if the whole world is doing it. The unsaved world doesn’t know any better. What’s your excuse? Stop using your employer’s phone to make your personal long distance calls. Stop calling in sick when you want a day off. Stop lying. Stop gossiping. Start keeping your word to people. If you tell someone you’re going to do something for them, then DO IT! Start living a life of integrity, and I mean TOTAL integrity, no compromise. It’s for sure Jesus isn’t going to compromise the Word of GOD.
The Holy Bible is a book of boundaries. It tells you what’s in, what’s out, what’s up, what’s down, what’s right, what’s wrong, what’s of GOD, and what’s snot. And no, I didn’t misspell that. The devil is slicker than snot in trying to get you to get “out of bounds” with God and making you think you are getting away with it. It may appear for a season that you’re getting away with it, but payday is coming, my friend, payday is coming. Ask your “Christian” friends who smoke and have cancer now. They got away with it for a while, but payday caught up with them. Compromise always catches up with you sooner or later.
If you’re one of those people who are living with “no boundaries”, you know who you are, I don’t have to tell you, then have a look around you. Look close! You may fool me, but you aren’t fooling God. I don’t believe you are even fooling yourself. If your life is in a mess and you’re missing out on GOD’S best and wondering why, wonder no more. Look in GOD’S Word, the Holy Bible, and let Him define your boundaries. After all, who else is qualified to tell you where the line is?

Tell GOD you are sorry for living out of bounds. Repent! He is quick to forgive, for He is a GOD of mercy. Then move inside His boundaries and STAY THERE!
