The Bible has a lot of teaching about words.  Are we REALLY aware how very much power our words have?  They not only affect how we get along with other people, they also affect our relationship with God, and they most certainly affect every area of our lives and even our health.  And yet most people speak things out without having the slightest sense of the consequences of those words.  Words can incite riots, words can heal, words can build up, words can destroy.  We need to be very careful with our words, they are like bullets in a gun, once fired off, they cannot be called back.

How do words affect your health, for example?  Suppose you spend lots of time listening to the news: this past week has been new threats made by North Korea, saying they can hit us with missiles.  Are you worried about war starting?  Has that stolen your peace?  What effect does that have on your well-being and joy?  So now you’re out shopping for survival foods in case war breaks out?  Now those are the words of OTHERS, and if they affect you, think how your OWN words affect you!

We will say you’ve had things going on in your body that aren’t right, so you’ve been to the doctor.  And the nice doctor tells you that you have cancer.  Immediately fear rises up, what will you do?  What are your options?  How long do they think you have to live?  How will you pay for treatments?  WILL YOU SURVIVE?
Believe it or not, your words will determine the outcome of all of the above.  It is written in Proverbs 13:1:3,

1  A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
2  A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
3  He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

Many people don’t want to listen to instruction, they believe what they believe, and you’re not going to change it.  People have told me, I don’t care what the Bible says, this is what I believe. Well, if what they believe doesn’t line up with God’s Word, then they’re in deep trouble.  Verse 2 says a man shall eat GOOD by the fruit of his mouth.  Like Jesus said, a good tree brings forth good fruit, and a bad tree brings forth bad fruit.  God’s Words bring forth good health, if diligently applied.  And talking like the world talks brings forth what?  Death and destruction.  So if you want to keep your life, keep your words lined up with God’s Words.  There is no other way.

You have a choice: you can either speak “By the stripes of Jesus, I am healed.” And BELIEVE that, or you can speak doubt and unbelief like the world speaks, and let the disease take its course until it kills you.  People say using God’s Word is HARD.  No, suffering and DYING is hard.  Again, you must DILIGENTLY apply God’s Word, it isn’t a hit and miss proposition, and for the Word to take root in your physical body, and make it bring forth the manifestation of health, it takes constant application, not just “once in a while”.  I’ve been healthy now for over  24 years because of CONSTANT application of God’s Word.  If it works for me, it will work for you, IF you apply it diligently like I have.

How about other areas of your life, like finances?
23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
24  And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

The Word of God is full of wisdom, diligently study it, and you will learn wisdom.  But it isn’t enough just to have wisdom, you must also act to apply it!  Some think just knowing the truth will set you free, but you can know your house is on fire, and continue sitting in your chair reading the newspaper, and you will die.  You must get up and escape.  Well, it’s like that with God’s Word.  In it you will find the solution for every problem you will ever face in life, but you must also apply that solution in order to get victory over the problem.  If you are one who listens to Godly advice, the LORD will increase your learning.  But if you close your ears to His counsel, even what you have will be taken from you.

For example, the Word tells us not to be debtors, else the creditor will rule our lives.  Does that mean never to borrow?  It isn’t a sin to borrow, but you must consider if having debt rule over you while you’re making payments is worth the headache.  The alternative is to save until you can pay for the item, then it’s yours with no payments, and nobody can take it from you.

God set up certain rules that apply to our lives: if you want to prosper, be a GIVER!  That sounds backwards, doesn’t it?  How can you accumulate wealth by giving it away?  Hey, I didn’t make the rule, I just obey it, and it WORKS.  But like I said, just knowing that isn’t enough, you have to act upon it!  Some say, “I’m so broke I can’t even pay attention.”  That is using your words wrongly.  Instead, line your words up with the Word of God:  Jesus said in Luke 6:38,

38  Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

How do you apply that word to your life?  Glad you asked!  First, BE a giver, then remind the LORD, “I’m a giver, therefore it is given unto ME, good measure, pressed down, and shaken together and running over, shall men give into my bosom, for with the same measure I have measured, it is measured unto me again.”  And one more thing: make sure you aren’t stingy in giving, because it will come back to you in like measure.  No, be EXTRAVAGANT in your giving.  And no, I’m not preaching “Give to ME”, like some preacher do, because I’m not looking for your money.  I’m looking to get blessings to you.  Find a need someone has and meet it; Jesus NEVER said, “Give to ME, I’m anointed, I’m good ground for your offerings to bring you increase.” No, Jesus said, GIVE TO THE POOR.

I know that offends some preachers who are trying to make a buck off of you, but to them I say, Suck it up, buttercup, and preach the Gospel like Jesus preached it.

Use your words to build up according to the Word of God.  Remember, God created the entire creation using His words.  He created mankind in His image, and gave us a mind and a tongue to speak His Words to make your life a blessing.  Don’t waste your words, speaking like the rest of the world speaks.  Your words create your world, remember that.  What you speak is what you believe in your heart, so if what you are believing doesn’t line up with God’s Word, then CHANGE WHAT YOU BELIEVE!

Finally, let the words of Jesus in Mark 11:23-24 sink in and take root in you:
23  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24  Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
