When was the last time you heard one of your friends or family having a pity party? And of course, you were invited, and if you attended, how did you feel later? Did it lift up your mood and spring you forth into a joyful mood?  No?  You say it pretty much sucked the life out of your day?   Well, when was the last time you heard God having a pity party?

None of us are strangers to having a bad day, we have all had them, but THEN what happens?  Do we invite everyone we know to join us in having a bad day?  Or do we cast down thoughts that run against that which is good?  It is written in 2 Corinthians 10:5, Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Sometimes we fail to see how quickly those thoughts of negativity can take root and bring forth fruit in us, and when we speak those words, they are like seeds that grow in other people’s minds.  They are sort of like dandelion seeds, you may have one or two in your yard when they go to seed.  Those seeds are blown about by the slightest breeze, and wherever they land, another plant establishes itself pretty quickly, and before you know it, your yard is full of them, AND  so is your neighbor’s yard.  Of course they are thrilled about that, I’m sure.

The point is, misery loves company; when you start talking about your pity party, everyone else joins in with their tales of woe, and pretty soon it’s like there’s a dark cloud hanging over the place.  Could you imagine God joining in with you, saying, You think it’s bad THERE?  Satan started a rebellion, a third of the angels joined him, and they quit the heavenly choir, the music has gone sour, and we’re selling the gold from the streets to buy coal for the Lake of Fire.  It’s AWFUL, I tell you! AWFUL!

Surely we are smart enough to understand why we should not give place to thoughts that stand against the Word of God.  When we give place to a bad attitude, MORE dwelling on those thoughts is sure to follow, soon accompanied by words reflecting the same, and pretty soon we will be spreading our rotten attitude and words like a bad case of the flu to anyone within range, who in turn spread it to others. One person has a headache, another is upset because they didn’t get a raise they deserved, another is mad at their spouse, another is just fed up with EVERYTHING and EVERYONE!   It would be far better to nip those attitudes in the bud when they first pop into our thoughts.  How do we do that?  That’s the EASY part!  Just start praising God out loud.  As you do so, you will tangibly feel anger, depression, sadness and worry just lift off of you like a heavy wet blanket, and it will give way to joy.  The more you give place to that joy and peace, the more it will multiply, and before you know it, you will be wondering what you were in such a bad mood about in the first place.

Psalm 33:1 says, Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.
Psalm 41:11, Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Psalm 57:7, My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.
Psalm 117:2, For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.
Psalm 135:3, Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.

And there are MANY other reasons to praise the LORD, firstly, because He is worthy of all glory, honor, praise, might, power, dominion and wisdom forever.  And secondly, because it makes YOU feel better!  YES!  Praising God makes YOU feel better.  Don’t believe me?  Just start praising God right now.  You don’t need a reason or an affliction, or a trial, or a sickness to have reason to worship and praise God.  The main reason to praise Him, is because He is GOD!

If you’re not in the mood right now to praise God, that is the reason you MUST do so right now, because you’re exactly where the devil wants you, and the only way you will come out of that mood is to praise God with all your heart.  You see, the devil cannot and will not praise God of his own free will.  He is miserable, and he wants YOU to be miserable with him.  But when you praise God, the yoke of bondage the devil has on you cannot remain on you, nor can the devil remain in YOUR presence when you are in GOD’S presence.

When you are praising God, you are in your own secret place with God where the devil cannot approach.  Praise unto God is befitting the upright, and it is a secret place with the Most High that you will want to abide in forever, once you experience for yourself how wonderful that place is.  Like I said earlier; misery loves company.  So let misery keep company with the devil, because that’s no place for a child of God like you.

Rejoice, and again I say REJOICE!  For you are beloved of God!  And because of the sacrifice of the blood of Christ Jesus of Nazareth, Y’shua Messiah, you can say, ABBA, Father, and rejoice in Him.  Oh, and don’t forget to tell everyone you know about Jesus, for they need Him as much as you.  There’s already more than enough misery in this world, they don’t need you anymore.  So excuse yourself from their company and live life more abundantly in Christ Jesus!
