It is written in Proberbs 29:2, When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.     It doesn’t matter which age you live in, when corrupt and wicked people rule, the people mourn.  We’re seeing a lot of that going on right now. In less than ten months, the present administration has more than doubled fuel prices, food prices, and created hardship for almost everyone in the country, except for the ruling elite.  So is there a cure?

The Bible tells us when the RIGHTEOUS are in authority, the people rejoice.  Getting the wicked out of places of authority should be the focus of every man and woman of God, because it doesn’t matter what country you live in, wicked rulers ruin the lives of everyone.  So how do the wicked get in places of authority in the first place?  There are far more wicked people than righteous, and so the wicked vote them in, and plus the wicked usually have ways to overthrow elections in their own favor.  But still, men and women of God have authority from on high, and if they’ll use it, they can get the wicked OUT, and the righteous IN.  It happens by prayer and worship to the Most High.  Sadly, there is way too much complacency in the hearts of God’s people.

Some say they just want to live in peace and raise their family.  That’s fine, we should.  But peace doesn’t come from rolling over and playing dead.  Any dead fish can float downstream.  It takes a live one to swim upstream against the current.  God’s people should not be afraid to swim upstream, nor to take places of authority in our government functions.  If we see wickedness taking place, we should rise up against it, not just say, “Oh well…..”  The biggest problem we have as a society is righteous people not taking a stand against evil.  I’m not saying to be a troublemaker, but rather to look in God’s Word and see how God wants things done here on earth, and DO THEM!

The disciples of Jesus asked Him how they ought to pray, and this is what He said, in Matthew 6:9-13,

 9  After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

 10  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

 11  Give us this day our daily bread.

 12  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

 13  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

            The first thing we need to pay heed to is, in verse 10 saying Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.  You see, what we really need is the righteousness of God taking over every kingdom and heart on this earth.  For if we have things on earth just like they are in heaven, there will be no wicked rulers on earth, there will be no reason for mourning, but everyone will be rejoicing, just as they do in heaven.

Now I don’t know about you, but I’d sure rather rejoice than mourn.  But as things are presently, there isn’t a lot to rejoice about in this world, is there?  Sure, we men and women of God have plenty to be thankful for, as our heavenly Father takes good care of His kids, but the rest of the world lies in confusion, sickness, poverty, and despair, because the devil is their father.  And only the people of God are in a position to have any effect on that, so what are we doing?  Are we praying for the lost and unsaved?  Are we sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them?  Are we seeking to take places of authority in our local government, so we can turn them to righteousness?

Or are we just dead fish floating downstream? Going along with the flow, not making waves, and living like the rest of the world lives?  Well not me.  I’ve spent all the time mourning I ever want to.  I want things GOD’S WAY!  And the sooner the rest of God’s people get with the program, the better things will be for all of us.  The Bible tells us things are going to get more and more evil as time passes, and that doesn’t look very encouraging.  But one day the Lord Jesus will return, and guess who is going with Him?

Yep, those who yearn after God’s righteousness and are doing all they can to establish God’s Kingdom here on earth, even among all this wickedness.  THOSE are the ones Jesus is coming back for to rule with Him for a thousand years.  Will YOU be among them?  I plan to be, because I’m not a dead fish content to float downstream with the wicked.  I want things to be done God’s way, because that’s the only way we will ever be able to rejoice forever!

Man or woman of God, get involved with promoting God’s Kingdom, it’s for sure the wicked won’t be doing anything righteous.  The wicked won’t preach the Gospel to get people saved.  Don’t think for a moment that “keeping your head down” will please God.  We are here with the authority of God given us to lead this world to God from darkness. The early disciples led by example, and we need to follow in their footsteps, Amen?

In closing, as it is written in 2 Timothy 4:1-5,

 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

 2  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

 3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

 4  And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

 5  But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

            And remember, it isn’t me that you need to please.  God knows those who are His and those who are not.  One day His people will be ruling in righteousness on this earth, and you want to be one of them!  One day, all the kingdoms of this world will become the Kingdom of our LORD, and oh boy, WE WILL REJOICE !
