The words we speak every day set the course for our lives.  While some may disagree with this concept, I think you’ll agree that pretty much everything we do also deals with our spoken words.  For example, if you apply for a job, you will have to speak to the interviewer.  Your answers will come not only from your life experiences, but also your attitude in general.  And your words will in a large part determine if you will or will not get that job.

When you meet someone you will base your opinion of them largely by what they speak.  A person’s thoughts determine their words, as well as their whole outlook on life.  A sad, depressed person speaks doom and gloom and because they SPEAK doom and gloom, it becomes their lifestyle.  Think I’m wrong?  Then show me one person if you can that speaks doom and gloom that is so full of happiness that it just fills the room when they walk in. I rest my case.

Of course, the point I’m heading toward is using GOD’S WORD as the plumb-line you measure your life by.  Some of you are struggling with sickness in your body, others are struggling in finances, while others may be struggling with depression and sadness.  ALL of the above conditions are subject to change by the Word of God.  But the Word of God will not change anything in your life if you’re not USING it!  In God’s wisdom, He gave us His Word as a written record of what His will is for us, as well as instruction in how to USE His words to bring His blessings into manifestation in our lives.  God DOES want us blessed, you knew that, didn’t you?

It is not God’s will that His children be downtrodden, sick, sad, depressed and heavy laden.  Contrary to popular belief, God’s plan for man calls for “life more abundantly”.  Now it isn’t “life more abundantly” if you’re sick.  I know, I’ve been there, done that, didn’t like it, and don’t want to EVER do that again.  I’ve been sad and depressed with no direction in life, and I’ve been set free, delivered, and given the joy of the LORD.  Ask me which is better.  Of course, I think you already know the answer to that one.  The Lord Jesus said in John 10:10, The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. By that, the Lord Jesus clearly contrasted the life we will live under the “thief’s” system, versus the life we can have as members of God’s system.  You will notice they are at opposites with one another, and there is no “middle ground”.  You are either in one system or another.  It’s up to you now to have an honest look at your life and determine which one is working in your life.

If you’re living in the devil’s system, I need not tell you that overall you’re not a happy camper, for as soon as you accomplish anything in life, the thief is there to steal it from you.  He is there to steal your joy, and even if you have money, you’re always worried who is out to take it away from you.  If you’re presently healthy, you’re wondering how long you will stay that way before your number comes up.  Life is a constant state of looking for fulfillment, and no matter how many “toys” you have, it’s never enough, for there is a “hole in your soul” that just can’t seem to be filled with the things of this world.  Your whole life is about searching for that next thing which will satisfy your longings, and when you think you’ve found it, it’s just a fleeting satisfaction that never stays long.  Jesus said there’s a better way: HIS way.

But living the blessed life doesn’t just fall on you like the rain from heaven.  It requires a change in your whole way of living, the way you think, and the way you speak.  You can’t speak trash from the devil’s kingdom and expect God to bless that.  What I’m saying here, is that you can’t speak contrary to God’s Word and expect God’s system to work for you.  The Lord Jesus said in Luke 6:45; A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

The Lord Jesus illustrated in that verse what our words will bring.  The person living by the devil’s system is called “evil”. That person’s life will be governed by the fruit of the devil’s system, in which everything is subject to “evil”, AND IT BRINGS FORTH MORE EVIL. On the other hand, the “good man” will bring forth only that which is “good”. And you notice by the abundance of what is in BOTH of their hearts, their mouth speaks.

It is impossible for someone whose heart is full of God’s Word to speak sickness.  No, they will speak health and healing, and because they constantly speak God’s Word, it will sooner or later manifest in their body IF they stay on it.  It’s not a “hit and miss” thing, speaking God’s Word every once in a while, but STAYING ON IT.

You don’t speak healing scriptures out of fear like you’re trying to keep the Boogie Man away, but to REINFORCE your confidence in God’s Word and remind yourself that God’s Word is true, AND, that it will do EXACTLY what God said it will do.  It is written in Isaiah 55:11, So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

You’re not preaching to God when you’re speaking His Word.  He already knows His Word works, it’s YOU that’s not so sure.  And you need to KNOW THAT YOU KNOW, and be so settled in His word that all the devil throws at you cannot budge you.
Let’s look at some scriptures here:

Pro 15:3  The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
Pro 15:4  A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.
Wow!  Did you get that in verse 4?  God’s Words are LIFE, but perverseness in your words is a breach in the spirit, destroying all that God wants for you.  Perverse means “twisted”.  The devil will twist the truth into a lie, and it is the devil’s lies that bring about defeat in your life. That “twisted” part started for mankind in the Garden of Eden.  Let’s read about it right here:

Gen 3:1  Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Gen 3:2  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
Gen 3:3  But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Gen 3:4  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Gen 3:5  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Gen 3:6  And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Notice in verse 4 what the devil told Eve: Ye shall not surely die: he “twisted” or perverted the Word of God which said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Well, the devil is still doing today what he did way back then, and we are still falling for his lies to this day.  He knows if he can get us to speak his lies, he can destroy us by the words of our own mouth. The devil is slick, isn’t he?

Nobody speaking healing scriptures like Isaiah 53:5 are calling sickness upon themself, but rather healing. Remember,  Jesus said,  ……for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. They are bringing themselves into agreement with the Word of God, and giving the Word first place in their life so it can bring forth healing in their body.  But let the devil will hit you with a pain or some symptom, and the first thing that happens is that you will start to speak trash, like, “I thought I was healed, but I guess I’m really not after all.” That is the very stuff that brings you into agreement with the devil.  And sure enough, things get worse because you agreed with him.  Pretty soon you’re way in over your head and someone like me tells you to speak God’s Word instead, and you say, “I did, but it didn’t work for me.” Well, you stopped speaking God’s Word.  You can’t agree with God and the devil at the same time.  It’s either one or the other.

We will say you want to go for a walk.  So you take two steps forward, then two steps backwards.  How far will you get?  You will get exactly nowhere.  You can wear yourself out taking two steps forward and two steps back and if you want to stay where you are, that’s the way to do it.  Stop the “two steps backwards” and your scenery will change eventually.  It’s a journey of one step at a time, and if you will make it forward only with God’s Word, and stop losing ground by back-stepping, God will bring wonderful changes into your life.  Make up your mind right now to put God’s Word into the abundance of your heart.  As you do so, your words will automatically line up with God’s Word and your life will start changing for the good, a day at a time.  God’s Word will change your world.

Maybe you remember a song from an old TV show called Hee Haw, where they sang,
“Gloom, despair, agony on me.  Deep dark depression, excessive misery.
If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all.  Gloom, depair, agony on me”

I sing it like this:
“Peace and joy, blessings upon me.  Jesus is my Savior for all eternity.
If it weren’t for His blood, I’d be lost, you see.  Peace and joy, blessings upon me.”

I use my words to give God the right to establish His Kingdom in my life, and God’s Word changed my life for good.  Oh, before I forget, today is 4-17.  Romans 4:17 says, Rom 4:17  (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Even if you’re not seeing what you need to happen in your life TODAY,  start bringing your words into agreement with God’s Word right now and keep it up. God did it, and it worked for Him, so follow His example.  God’s Word will change your life!
