WHY ARE SO MANY OF GOD’S CHILDREN SICK?

There is so much sickness going around in the churches.  Why are so many of God’s children sick?  Is that the will of God?  Or have they failed to make use of what has been given to them by Jesus?

THERE IS A SEASON FOR EVERYTHING

Being this is the last day of 2021, this will be my last weekly writing for the year.  Looking back, and considering the whole year, has it been good or evil?  For many it has not been a good year at all with sickness, jobs lost, businesses closed, people dying, and yet it has not altogether been a bad year for everyone.  We all have good days and bad days, just like there are seasons in the year, one season goes, and another comes. Nothing is permanent.  That is, except for our relationship with God. Continue Reading »

THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL

On December 25th, much of the world celebrates Christmas as the birth date of Christ Jesus of Nazareth.  Now, this is a tradition, but not anchored accurately in facts.  The Bible gives the account on the birth of Christ on this wise:

THE HIGH CALLING OF CHRIST

Sometimes it is necessary to remind oneself that salvation is not a matter of religious observance of rituals or laws, or self-righteous denial of foods or drink, but it is ONLY the result of what Christ Jesus did on the cross. Continue Reading »

THE BLESSING OF THE LORD

The Book of Proverbs is also called the Book of Wisdom, and I like to study from it every day.  Why?  Because there are 31 Proverbs; one for every day of the month.  And today while reading Proverbs 10, verse 22 just kind of jumps off the page at me, and this is what it says:

The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

DO YOU PICK AND CHOOSE?

I’ve been to very few churches who teach from the whole Bible, cover to cover.  Most all of them pick and choose what to major in, and most times they end up “majoring in the minors”.  One denomination is big on salvation. Another on gifts of the Spirit. Another on speaking in tongues, while another majors on prophecy.  There are as many denominations as there are pages in the Bible it seems.  And yet the ENTIRE Bible is telling us of the very nature of God and instructs us in how to follow Him. I’M THANKFUL FOR……

Sometimes we complain about what we don’t have.  I’ve done it, too, but that doesn’t make it right.  So I decided to try to be more thankful, not only for what I have to be thankful for, but what I DON’T have, to be thankful for.  I had terminal cancer back in 1993, and you can bet I’m thankful I don’t have THAT anymore.  So, I’m thankful for….. WHY DON’T I HEAR GOD?

I often tell people how easy it is to hear God, and they ask “How do you do that?”  Well, maybe it’s kind of like Thomas Edison discovering over 900 ways NOT to invent a light bulb.  We need to take inventory of our life and find out WHY we have trouble hearing God.  It’s a process of elimination, really. THE BLAME GAME

Have you ever noticed how people don’t want to accept responsibility for their actions?  They want to blame “someone else” for their decisions, so that “someone else” reaps the consequences.  And it’s nothing new.  As far as I can see, it’s been going on ever since the Garden of Eden, and we can pick it up in Genesis 3:1, Continue Reading »

WATCH YOUR WORDS

Whether you believe it or not, our world is framed by words.  It makes no difference whether you believe that or not, that’s just the way it is.  If you don’t happen to believe in gravity, it doesn’t care, it applies whether you believe in it or not.  If you happen to be one that doesn’t believe in gravity, do this: hold a bowling ball above your bare foot and let go of the ball.  If there is no such thing as gravity, then nothing will happen.  But if there IS, you’re going to have a very sore foot, whether you believe in gravity or not.
