GENUINE OR COUNTERFEIT

 

With so many things being counterfeited these days, like American goods being counterfeited in China, it can be hard to know the genuine article from the counterfeit.  I’ve enjoyed watches pretty much my whole life, learning to work on them from a child. My dad did watchmaking part time, and watching him take a broken watch and make it run again made me want to learn to do it too.  And before long I had a small collection of various watches.  Most of them were “cheapies”, as I was just a kid, but Dad worked on some pretty expensive ones, too. BE MERCIFUL

 

God is merciful, and if we want to please Him, then we must be too.  And I guarantee you that there are enough “jerks” sprinkled among us, that being merciful isn’t always easy to do.  Yet I think of how we treat the LORD many times, and I’m amazed He hasn’t made crispy critters out of most of us.  God nearly destroyed all of mankind back in the flood, and only Noah and his family were spared.  Here we are thousands of years later, and I’m wondering how God can put up with us even another day.  It isn’t going to be pretty when He decides to deal with mankind’s evil. ENDURE UNTO THE END

 

What is the definition of “ENDURE”?  It is a verb, denoting action, meaning to carry on through despite hardships or misfortune without yielding, to put up with, suffering, to tolerate, to continue to exist, to last.  Now, that’s what the Lord Jesus had in mind when He was asked what would be the sign of His coming, and the end of the world.
