It’s been a while since I taught on healing, and after all, this IS a healing ministry. So today, it’s back to healing. Now, if you’re well and have no need of healing, then good, give this to someone you know that ISN’T well today, and be a blessing to them.

Proverbs 18:19-21 says this:
19 A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.
20 A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Now, you may be wondering why I started off with verse 19, does it seem out of place with this teaching? Well here’s why: most all of us have been taught this or that about the Bible, and if you’ve been to any church for any time at all, you have put down roots, so to speak, and have planted yourself in the church’s teaching doctrines. Now, if that teaching is sound, backed up by the Bible, fine, but if it’s built on the “doctrines of men”, then look out. It says in 2 Peter 1:20, Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. That means exactly what it says: what you or I THINK the Bible says, it doesn’t matter, because God said in His Word exactly what He meant, and meant what He said, and OUR interpretation or opinion doesn’t matter a whit.

Getting back to Proverbs 18:19, if you tell someone something from the Bible that doesn’t sit with “their” interpretation, or “their” belief, you’re going to have a real hard time convincing them otherwise, EVEN IF WHAT THEY BELIEVE IS OPPOSED TO THE BIBLE!

Most of you know me well enough to know I’m pretty strong on teaching about healing, because God healed me of cancer in 1993. I don’t teach about healing because it’s my “private interpretation”, because I don’t have one. God stands good for His Word, and if we’re going to benefit by His Word, then we must come into agreement with it. That’s pretty basic, but you have to start with the basics. Those of you who are married know all about that. You’re not going to just walk up to the man or woman of your dreams and say, “Let’s get married today”. There’s a process of what I’d call “coming in agreement” with that person that must take place first. Depending on the person, that process may be long or short, but until the process takes place, you’re not going past first base with them.

Well, that’s EXACTLY how healing works. You may want to be healed with all your heart, but “wanting” to be healed and “being” healed are two entirely different things, and that’s determined by what you are in agreement with. You can be in agreement with your doctor when he or she says you have cancer, and your only option is chemo, or radiation, or surgery, and go through that process. Maybe it will be successful, maybe not. The overall odds are that it won’t be successful for long. That’s why they want you to keep going back for follow-up treatments.

Now, I’m not against doctors. They have patched up a lot of injured people. But when it comes to healing and STAYING healed, I’m in agreement with God’s Word 100%. By the way, doctors are “practicing”, as they admit, but God isn’t “practicing”; He has it down pat. As the creator of the human body (and everything else), He is the utmost authority to turn to. I won’t waste my time going anywhere else, unless He would happen to instruct me to do so. But as the HEALER, He doesn’t need anyone’s help to heal us.

If you buy a new car, it comes with an instruction manual, and yeah I know, you already know how to drive and don’t need to read some stupid book. That’s what I thought, too. Years ago, I had this really nice Lincoln that was my pride and joy. I polished it almost daily, and was at my Mother-in-law’s house in Joplin, Missouri with my wifey. At that time I was a member of a certain ministerial alliance, so I looked in their book to see if there was anyone around there I could fellowship with, and found a fellow minister close by. I was in Mom’s driveway, yep, you got it: polishing my Lincoln, when this minister drove up. I could hear him coming from a block away, followed by a cloud of smoke.

He pulled up and got out of the smoking car, while in its dying throes, it went “pucka-pucka-pow-BAM!” and chucked out a huge cloud of smoke. We introduced ourselves, and he said, Wow! That’s the prettiest Lincoln I’ve ever seen! Is that yours? I told him it was, and the LORD said to me, GIVE IT TO HIM! Well, we had to get back home, so I didn’t give it to him right then. I took it home and took it to the Lincoln dealer and told them to go through EVERYTHING and make sure it was right, and put a new set of Michelin tires on it. After all, I wasn’t going to sacrifice anything but my best to the LORD. I went home and emptied my personal stuff out of it, and as I was glancing at the Owner’s Manual (which I had neglected to do before), I found several things that Lincoln could do that I never knew about. It was MY car, it was paid for in full, but I never got to use certain things the car could do. Why? I HADN’T READ THE OWNER’S MANUAL!

Well, we took the Lincoln to the minister, and he just stood there and cried, his favorite car was a Lincoln, and now he finally had one! But the point is, I missed out on some very nice “benefits” by not reading the Owner’s Manual. And if you haven’t read your Bible from cover to cover, I guarantee, YOU are missing out on some very important “benefits”.

It is written in Psalm 103:2-5, Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits; who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Now, I was talking earlier about those who are “offended” by anything other that what THEY’VE been taught, which is what Proverbs 18:19 is about. Those people are pretty hard to win over, even if the Bible shows them to be wrong. But there are those who WILL consider the Word of God, and change their minds, and THOSE are those who “benefit” the most. Verse 20 again says: 20 A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.

If you’re sick, and you keep talking the sickness and what the doctor and everyone else says, you know, “Well my Aunt Zelda died of that”, you’re not going to get well. But if and when you come into agreement with the Word of God, then you start going forward. It can be instant, as I’ve seen it happen many times, or it can be gradual, as it was in my own case. And it was without any treatments, by the way. But I’ll take “recover” over dying any day! How about you?

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
I happen to totally agree with verse 21. Feel free to agree or not. But the undisputable fact is, what you believe in your heart and say with your mouth is what you’ll have. The Lord Jesus revealed a secret hidden from creation in Mark 11:23-24, when He said,
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

That’s not a “private interpretation” there, it’s the very WORDS OF GOD, given us for our BENEFIT! Now if you need healing in your body, get your “believe” and your “words” lined up with God, and doubt not, and you shall have it! Simple, huh? It’s so simple even I could do it! And it keeps me well to this day, 27 years later. And it will work for you, as well! So why be sick, when you can be well?
