One day while traveling, I saw a billboard that said, “GOT JESUS?”  That got me thinking about all the people who tell me they “have Jesus”.  It’s amazing how many people claim Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior, yet nothing has changed in their life.  They are living the same life they were before being “born again”, so I really have to wonder, what happened, or more accurately, what DIDN’T happen?

In other words, do you have Jesus, or does He have YOU?  Now, if you have Jesus, then you’re taking Him everywhere you go, and whatever you do, you have Him, right?  But what if He has YOU?  That means everywhere He goes, He has you with Him, and what He does, then you’re doing it too.  Are you with me so far?  Is there a difference? Well, there better be!
If Jesus has YOU, then the will of God will become YOUR will, the desires of God’s heart will be the desire of YOUR heart, and His compassion will rise up in you, and you will find it impossible to live your life according to your own will, for your will has become lost in His. Does that sound familiar?  No?  then apparently Jesus doesn’t have you, YOU have you.  When you wake up in the morning, are you asking the LORD, “Father, what do You want me to do today?”  No?  Are you asking your heavenly Father to use you to build His kingdom?  No?  Then I’m worried about you, for that tells me that Jesus doesn’t have you, that you only have “religion”.

Can religion save you?  Not a chance.  I don’t care how faithful you are to serve in the church you attend, how many committees you serve on, how many meals you make and take to the church, it’s all religion, and it profits you NOTHING!  Oh, but you say you have good works?  Well and fine, if you belong to Jesus, the fruit of your life WILL be good works, they certainly won’t be bad works.  But it isn’t the works that proves Jesus has you; anybody can do good works if they think they will profit by it.  No, it’s a changed heart, showing you are a new creature in Christ Jesus.  I don’t care if you were saved when you were a kid, every day you live you are still a new creation in Christ Jesus, one that reflects Christ Jesus to those you are in contact with.

Can you be around those who are lost and unsaved, and you go about your business not concerned for their soul?  Oh, that’s scary!  If you are not moved by the Holy Spirit to tell them about Jesus, if your heart does not yearn for their salvation, then my friend, you may have religion, but I guarantee you, Jesus does not have YOU.  And in the day you stand before Him, you will hear, “Depart from me, I never knew you!”  Does that frighten you?  I hope so.  In fact, I hope it frightens you so much that you get on your knees right now and ask Jesus to forgive you, and give you His heart, His passion, and His mission for your life.

People say, “I have the Holy Spirit.” Wonderful!  But does the Holy Spirit have YOU?  If He does, then your life will be a supernatural life, with the Supernatural One living in You, doing the Works of God.  The Lord Jesus said in John 14:12-14,
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14  If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

It is so very important that the Holy Spirit has YOU, so He can do the works of the Father through you.  He needs YOU to represent Him on this earth, because He is in heaven with His Father, and in this age He isn’t walking around on the earth doing good works and healing the sick, and setting the captives free from Satan.  No, that isn’t His job anymore.  He trained His disciples, empowered them to do everything He did, and He went back to heaven.   And they in turn trained others to do the same, right down to today.  If the Holy Spirit has YOU, then YOU have been given the very same power and authority that was granted to the original disciples. What are you doing with it?

And if you DON’T have the Holy Spirit?  Then, what do you do?  Well, if you don’t have the Holy Spirit, you must do what everyone else down through the ages has had to do to receive Him. It is written in Acts 2:38-39,
38  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Nothing has changed; if You have the Holy Spirit, the LORD wants to use YOU to help  bring the Kingdom of God to this earth.  And if you DON’T have the Holy Spirit, what are you waiting for, an engraved invitation?  Ok, here it is:
39  For the promise is unto YOU, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

OK, you’re called.  And now you know what to do. Does He have YOU?  If so, Good!  Now get about the LORD’s work!
