This morning while asking the Lord what to write about, He spoke very clearly to me to use John 14:7 for the text, and after looking it up, I saw why.  If you don’t understand what the Lord Jesus was teaching here, much of the rest of what He gained for us by His sacrifice will go unused in our lives.  Let’s look at the text:
Joh 14:7  If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
Joh 14:8  Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
Joh 14:9
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
Joh 14:10  Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
Joh 14:11  Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
Joh 14:12  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. Joh 14:13  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Joh 14:14  If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
Joh 14:15  If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Joh 14:16  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Joh 14:17  Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
The Disciples traveled with Jesus for about 3 ½ years, and witnessing the wonderful works He did, which were really not of Him, but of His Father in heaven.  We spend so much of our time begging our heavenly Father to do this or that for us, to give us our provision, or to forgive our sins when we mess up, or to heal our bodies which sometimes have things that go haywire.  But if we really pay attention to what the Lord Jesus was telling us, we will have a whole new revelation of His Father.
Jesus said If you have seen me, you have seen my Father.  If you stop to think about it, you will notice that when someone asked Jesus for mercy, they only needed to ask once, for Jesus never said “NO!”  I wonder why it is that we are so slow to get it?  We are really no different today than the disciples were back then.  Here we have all this knowledge available to us in this age of modern technology, yet we are saying the same thing they did: show us the Father.
We need the Spirit of Truth to reveal the nature of the Father to us.  We cry out to Him to forgive us our sins, yet we don’t believe He really does, so we spend many hours beating ourselves up when we err, thinking the Lord will cast us off like an old rag.  “Oh Lord, I messed up again,  please forgive my sins.”  The Father says, “You’re forgiven.”  What part of “forgiven” don’t we understand?  I seem to remember in Psalm 103:2-3, it says, “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: who forgiveth ALL thine iniquities, who healeth ALL thy diseases.”  I guess the correct question to ask is, what part of “all” do we not understand?
Does not “all” cover the total amount of?  In plain terms, it means the total amount of your sins, past, present, and future are forgiven.  If the Father then says all your sins are forgiven, how many do you have left that you must keep begging Him to forgive?  If you consider the fact that God cannot lie, and He says you are forgiven, then it is no different than calling God a liar to keep acting like you are not forgiven.  The Spirit of Truth would have you set free from guilt, if you have asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior.  And if you haven’t, then right now is the time to do that, and that issue can be settled forever.  The devil, as we know, is a liar, and the father of lies.  Even though the heavenly Father has declared you forgiven, the devil will continue to work on your mind to bring condemnation upon you.  But it is written in Romans 8:1, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”  And the devil tells you, Yeah, but what about yesterday when you acted ugly to so-and-so, isn’t that sin?
That depends on what your definition of “is” is, as one of our past Presidents once said.  If God said your sins are forgiven, then they’re forgiven, period.  No loopholes, sorry.  The apostle Paul spent a lot of time in Romans trying to make people understand that because of the grace given us through the blood of Christ Jesus, sin is no longer imputed to us, that the Father sees the blood of Jesus applied to us, and calls us “sinless”.  And happy is the man to whom God does not impute sin.
Moving on:  when people came to the Lord Jesus to ask for healing, He never said “NO”.  Why is that?  Well, because it is His Father’s will to show mercy, and therefore, Jesus showed mercy to all who asked.  Have you asked the Lord Jesus for healing?  Then you need to know Jesus has not said “No” to you, nor will He ever.  Remember, in Psalm 103 it not only says your sins are forgiven, but He heals ALL your diseases, as well.
This is where I lose a lot of people.  They say, “Well, if God healed all of my diseases like it says, then why am I still sick?”  And that’s a good and fair question.  The simple answer according to scripture has to be, “Because of your unbelief”.  It’s one thing to be ignorant of what the Bible says, and not be walking in its benefits, but it’s another thing altogether to call God a liar.  Many people study the Word of God daily, and say they believe what is written therein, yet when they don’t see it happening in their own flesh, they want to say, “Well, I guess it isn’t God’s will to heal me.”  Nothing could be further from the truth!  Plain and simple, the devil has deceived you.  The Lord Jesus paid a terrible and agonizing price to gain the forgiveness of your sins and the healing of your diseases.  How could you then say it isn’t the Father’s will that you be healed?  Maybe the devil is telling you “Someday you will have your healing.”  That’s still a lie, because Jesus never told anyone He would heal them “someday”.  Search the scriptures and show me where Jesus ever put anyone off!  You won’t find it!
It is written, “Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and for ever”.  If Jesus and His Father never put anyone off who asked for mercy then, they won’t do it today, either. If you cry out to God for mercy RIGHT NOW, then you will receive mercy RIGHT NOW!  Forgiveness of sin and healing is bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus, and though you may feel like you must wait for them, like some religious people try to tell you, there’s no waiting for those who believe.
Let the Spirit of Truth give you revelation right now of the goodness and mercy of God.  And don’t stop there.  Use that revelation and mercy to show mercy unto others, and tell them of what the Lord Jesus has purchased for THEM!   Keep reading John 14:7-14 until you understand it clearly, then go forth and live in and by the power of it!
