There is so much in the news about hate crimes. For example, people of other religions killing people in the “name of God”. Is hate entirely wrong? That depends what you hate. Even God has things He hates.

According to Proverbs 6:16-19, “These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto Him: a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, and heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.”
As we examine those around us for behavior that God hates, it is easy to fault others by saying “I would never do such things!” But even as we say of ourselves that we would never do such things, we are already much in danger of being prideful about it. And of course, the devil would have you be proud that you are not as others who….. “sin”. And the statement that “I would never do such things”, if not prideful, may well be a lie before God, even if it happens in a moment of weakness.
Of course, we are all guilty of the shedding of the innocent blood of Jesus. Every man, woman, and child ever born helped put Jesus on that cross. And we’re all too quick to devise evil imaginations, or opinions, about those we perceive have done evil. Maybe we’ve said in an angry moment that a certain politician, for example, who was caught doing wrong, “ought to be strung up”, or “thrown in prison”. We’ve imagined evil against them. As for feet that are swift to run to mischief, how about the time you heard that juicy rumor about someone, and you just couldn’t wait to tell someone? Hello?? Never done that, you say? Are you sure? Come on now, remember, God hates lies. And then, there’s a false witness that speaks lies.
That could even be a person who truthfully repeats what they heard from a friend, not knowing it was a lie in the first place. Or, it could even be someone who deliberately lies about someone.
How about gossip? A gossip is someone who goes about being a talebearer and speaking things they ought not about others.
It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not. Gossip is sin. And it sows discord among brethren. Proverbs 16:28 says, “A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.” That’s another biggie to God. He abhors these seven things. And if God abhors them, then we would do well to do the same. Do you know someone who does those things? Pray for them. Getting closer to home, have you taken part in any of them? Thank God for 1 John 1:9. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” There is mercy for repentance!
Getting back to my first question, Is hate entirely wrong? Not if you hate the things God hates. But remember to love the things that God loves. There are other things the Bible says that are abominations to God. If God hates it, we don’t need to vote if it’s socially acceptable. He doesn’t need our opinion. We have His, and it’s the only one that matters.

I coined a phrase that pretty much sums it up. “It is better to hear “Well done”, than to be well done.”

How you line up with His opinion determines if you will hear “Well done”, or as I said, “be” well done…as in crispy critter in the lake of fire. I’ll tell you one more thing God hates…He hates for anyone to perish. How about you, do you hate what God hates?
