As with anything concerning God, there is a place and a time.  It is written in Ecclesiastes 3:1,To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.  Therefore, it stands to reason that you would not want to be at the Airport when your ship came in.
Many people speak of being frustrated at how things just aren’t working out as good as they could.  One Christian couple said they had found their dream home and made an offer on it, only to find it had been sold the day before.  They said they felt like they should have acted on it sooner, but put it off.  If only they had listened to the Holy Spirit, they would be living there now.  But many of us suffer from the same problem; we think we have all the answers to our problems, and make our plans accordingly.  Then when they don’t work out, we think God did it to us.
Some people think God would not want us to have anything we want, like a nice home, but yet, doesn’t God have whatever He wants surrounding Him?  Does God live in a low-rent apartment with leaky plumbing, walking everywhere He goes because His chariot has a flat tire and He can’t afford to fix it?  No!  His place has streets of gold, and apparently all the room He wants.  The Word says in Genesis 1:26-27, And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.  So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.
It would appear to me that God meant man to be a lot more than the average bear, that he was created with lots of potential to do good things.  Now all we need is DIRECTION.  And that’s exactly where our problem lies.  You see, we tend to make our own direction instead of asking God what we should do.  It’s like this: we say, Lord, this is what I’m going to do, and I ask You to bless it.  Instead, we should ask, Lord, what do YOU want me to do today?  Why do I say that?  Because God’s plan already has His blessing on it.  Jesus spoke to His disciples saying in 9:37-38, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth labourers into His harvest.  So then, by this we see there is already a blessing upon those who will go forth into the Lord’s harvest to labor.  Next question to ask the Lord is, Lord, in what field do You want me to labor today?  Even here, we want to make our own plans.  One might say, I’m going to be a missionary in Africa.  That’s fine, if the Lord told you to go to Africa, but what if His choice is for you to be a witness for him as a mechanic at the local car dealership? Well, then, you’re not at the right place at the right time, and you will miss your blessing, even though being a missionary to Africa is a good thing, if it isn’t what GOD wants you to do, then it isn’t blessed, see?
In spite of the fact that we are such a hard-headed people who always want things our way, the Lord is very patient and gracious toward us. But He very much wants us to be at the right place at the right time so He can bless us.  As I said before, many people want God to open the windows of heaven and pour them out a blessing right where they are at the time.  And when that doesn’t happen, they get an attitude toward God, rather than asking Him, Lord, where am I supposed to be today to be blessed?  He will tell you, if you will just get quiet and listen.  Get quiet and listen?  That’s like asking a dog to sing opera.  People today are in such a hurry that they won’t take time to get quiet before the Lord, although they might say a ten second prayer saying God bless me, amen, and call that “quality time” with God.  It’s not going to happen, folks.  He wants quality time with us, not just warmed-over leftover seconds here and there.
Some people use their time stuck in traffic jams to pray, and that’s fine, but did you ever stop to think that if you spent other time in prayer, that God would speak to you how to avoid the traffic jam in the first place?  But maybe that’s the only time He gets with you, so He uses it….That’s a word for someone, hello?
By the way some people talk, you’d think God is sitting in heaven with a fly swatter, just waiting for an excuse to smack us a good one, but nothing could be farther from the truth.  It is written in Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you and expected end.  What kind of expected end is He talking about?  He’s talking about the GOOD things He has plans to do for you!
Without fail, I have seen that every time I’ve been obedient to go when the Lord sends me on a mission, I have been blessed and prospered in my way.  But when I’ve made a plan, and even if it was a good and godly plan, if I didn’t seek God about it first, the plan was doomed to fail even before I started.   It is written in Isaiah 30:21; And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.  Yes, we can hear the voice of the Holy Spirit guiding our way.  The trick is to LISTEN.  Many are not good listeners, because they’re too busy making their next plan.
If you REALLY want to be blessed, how about saying Lord, I do want to be blessed, and I’ve been busy trying to get blessed on my own terms. Let’s start over so I can get it right.  Lord, where do you want me today, and where?  What is Your plan for me today?  Then let the Holy Spirit lead you into His blessing.  Do that each day, and before long, you will be finding yourself always at the right place at the right time, blessed!
