The Lord Jesus told His disciples in John 14:26, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Have you ever been in a situation where a scripture just pops into you head? I have, MANY times. But how does that happen? It happens by “remembrance”, but unless you put it in there, you can’t remember it. You cannot “remember” things you’ve never experienced, nor recollect that which you have never heard or seen. You see, the Holy Spirit wants to HELP you, and the best way that can happen is if you’re continually feeding on the Word of God. Then, when you need that particular knowledge, the Holy Spirit brings it forth from your memory.

When this word “remembrance” came to me, it came in two segments: “re-membrance”, which means to “remember”, or “re-member”. Let me explain: As a born-again child of God, we are made “members” of the Kingdom of God, and children of the Most High God, are you with me so far? We are not out there abandoned and all alone in this world. And even though we are only “passing through”, we are not orphans, for we have our heavenly Father who watches over us continually. So it goes without saying, He needs to stay in constant communication with us, so as to keep us in His ways.

Now, speaking from an earthly perspective, once we are born into a family, we are ALWAYS a part of that family. That isn’t to say that we may not do something so bad that our earthly family will “disown” or “disinherit” us, because it has happened. I’ve read of kids being written out of their father’s will for various reasons. But our heavenly Father isn’t like an earthly father that may decide one day he’s had enough of us, and he no longer wants us.

So here the word “re-member” is a handy term. Certainly there are times we feel we are not worthy of the heavenly Father’s love. It’s happened to me, and very possibly it’s happened to you as well. It is during those times the devil is trying to get you to think your heavenly Father has “disinherited and disowned” you. There’s nothing the devil would like better than to get you to believe God has abandoned you because of something you have done, or failed to do that He wanted you to do.

Surely you can name a “friend” or “family member” that you are no longer close to because they have abandoned you for one reason or another, and cut of all fellowship with you, that is, unless you are perfect, which I am not. So I speak from experience here, not just “book learning”. For God to “re-member” you would be impossible, for He never throws you away. You are always on His mind. BUT OFTEN WE NEED TO “RE-MEMBER” WHO WE ARE!

It is written in Ephesians 2:4-10,
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

I especially like that word “workmanship” in verse 10. In one definition, it means (1) that which has been made, (2) a work, of the works of God as Creator. Another definition is MASTERPIECE. After all, God doesn’t create junk. Everything He created, He looked at and said it was very good. And that includes YOU! And though not everything we have done is “good” or “very good”, still we were CREATED “very good”, a “masterpiece” if you will.

And I’m writing this today to get you to “re-member”, in other words, bring to memory AGAIN of your true identity in Christ Jesus, in case the devil has talked you out of your membership in the Family of God. You can’t “RE” anything if you haven’t done it before. You can’t “replace” something you haven’t placed there before. You can’t “reunite” with someone you’ve never been united to before. And you can’t “RE-MEMBER”, or become a member again where you were not previously a member.

So right now I need to extend an invitation to you to become a member of the Family of God if you aren’t already. It is written in Romans 10:13, FOR WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED. Go ahead, call upon Him right now, don’t be shy, He is waiting to welcome you into His family. And if you already ARE a member, then I invite you to “re-member”, that is, to bring to memory again how very precious you are in the LORD’S heart.

The devil is a sly one, cruel and cunning, always at work to get God’s children to give up on their heavenly Father, to abandon their place in God’s Family, to “run away from home” if you will. But run if you will, God will not give up His children. He will keep searching for you until He finds you, or rather “you find HIM”.

He already knows where you are, but perhaps YOU don’t know where you are. Come home to your heavenly Father, let Him give you His Holy Spirit to teach you all things and bring all things into your remembrance which He has said unto you. And what did He tell you? In John 3:16-17 He said, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life, for God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.

Let Him bring THAT to your remembrance each and every day!
