Yeah, I know, sometimes I come up with some odd things to write about, but it wasn’t my idea, it was the Lord’s.  All I can take credit for is sitting quietly and writing down what He gives me.  And this time just happens to be about spoons.  That’s right: spoons.
 Have you looked in your silverware drawer lately?  If you notice, the knives just kind of lay there in no particular order, but the forks and spoons are a different matter, more particularly the spoons.  Forks kind of nest together but some of them scatter sideways, but the spoons lay neatly stacked one on top of the other.  What in the world could this have to do with anything important in life?  Actually, quite a lot, as you will see.

 When my wife and I are sleeping, we become like spoons.  If I am snuggled up against her back, and she gets tired of that position, she will turn over and so do I, and now she is snuggled against my back, and that’s pretty much how we sleep.  We fit together, and that’s how it should be.  And if we don’t lay like that, it just doesn’t feel right, like something is wrong.
 Here’s where I start talking about the Lord.  You see, if we’re “spooned” to the Lord, no matter which side you’re on, you’re close to the Lord, it’s either you up close to Him, or He’s up close to you, whichever you prefer to call it.  When times aren’t going right for you, consider the spoons; are you nestled with the Lord, or are you going it alone?  For if you are going it alone, you are in a bad place indeed.  Of course the first thing that happens is the devil comes and says, “Where’s your Lord?  Has He left you again?”  Well, we both know the answer to that, the Lord says He will neither leave us or forsake us.  So if one of you is missing, it surely isn’t Him, it’s YOU!!
I’ve noticed at times if my wife gets up during the night, I’ll wake up because she isn’t there.  It’s not that I can’t sleep if she isn’t there, I can, but it just isn’t a restful and refreshing sleep, because my better half is missing and I miss her touch.  Your spirit within you also senses when you aren’t connected to the Lord, and rightfully so, because your “better half” is indeed missing.  It is those times the devil comes to play on your mind, because he knows when the Lord is present with you, he can’t touch you.  But when you leave the Lord’s presence then you’re fair game for him.
I’m not talking about “forsaking” the Lord and going to live in sin, I’m talking about the everyday things in life that can creep in and displace the Lord, you know what I mean, the job stops and the bills won’t, or the dryer quits with a wet load inside, or the car breaks down out on the road.  Those things can happen to everyone from time to time, and just being a child of God does not exempt you from them.  And that’s the time the devil will come and ask “Where’s your God NOW?”  This is the time to know your God has NOT left you.  He’s merely giving you the opportunity to show the devil you are right where you should be, snuggled up close to the Lord, unmovable, unshakeable, unimpressed by anything the devil throws at you.
It doesn’t really matter if “your spoon” is on top of the “Lord’s spoon” or under it, the point being, are you connected?  Are you resting close to Him, safe and secure?  Don’t you know that whatever the circumstances, He has you covered, just like He says in His Word.   Whether you are facing sickness or disease, He has you covered, and you have a “warranty”.  If you have lost your job, the Word says the righteous will never beg bread.  And by the way, just the fact that you’re snuggled up close to Jesus makes you righteous, so what’s to worry about?   Let’s take a look at Psalm 91:

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

 Whatever the problem you’re facing right now, if you are with Jesus, you’re not facing it alone.  There’s nothing you could possibly need that He doesn’t have on hand already.  And He isn’t greedy by any means.  He will make sure your need is met WITH ABUNDANCE!
If by chance you need something He doesn’t have, He will create it for you, no problem.

 The next time the devil tries to rattle you, just remember the spoons in your drawer, now nicely they fit together and that you and Jesus are just like them.
