There are many born-again Christians who have struggled with sickness in their body, some for years on end, who just can’t seem to get the manifestation of their healing.  They go to church, trying to live a life that gives glory to God, pray, study the Word, but somehow, the promises in the Word don’t line up with what is going on in their body.  So the natural question is; why isn’t the Word of God working for me?  What am I doing wrong?  Or is it just the fact that healing really isn’t for everyone?  And of course, some say that the miracles of healing we see in the Bible were for a different time, and a different people, and it doesn’t apply today.
   Let’s take a look at that issue.  In the beginning of man’s creation, there was no sickness or disease upon the earth whatsoever.  God did not create man to be sick, so sickness is an unnatural state.  But when sin came into the world through wrong choices, sickness came along with it, and ever since then, people have spent lots of time and money trying to get rid of sickness.  That’s why people run to the doctor when they’re not well, because they want to return to their natural state, which is freedom from sickness.
   All the healing we will ever need has been bought and paid for by the Lord Jesus.  But for some people, it’s more natural to go to the doctor and take a pill than it is to seek God for healing.  Why is that?  Well, for some, they can pray and pray, and see no relief, yet they can take a pill and feel better in the morning.  So it’s a no-brainer that they will take what they perceive to be the easier path.  But the reality is, God’s path to healing is the easier, and definitely cheaper, than what the medical field offers.
We read in Mark 5:27-34 of a woman who had a lot of experience with doctors.
Mar 5:25  And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
26  And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
27  When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
28  For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
29  And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
30  And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
31  And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32  And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
33  But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34  And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
    Here we see something that is very familiar today; this woman spent all she had at the hand of many physicians, and was nothing better, but rather grew worse.  Has anything really changed in the medical field in 2,000 years?  Not much.  But this woman had heard about how Jesus was healing the sick, and she decided she was having some of that!  I mean, after you’re broke and still sick and suffering, what’s to lose by going to God, right?  Only, this time it was different.  It wasn’t like her normal trip to the doctor, go in, let them do their work, take her money, and leave sick, just like she came in.  This time, she got cured, and for FREE even!  Wow!   Too bad she didn’t go to Jesus in the first place, right?  But as she heard, she came to Him to receive what God wanted her to have so freely, without any cost to her.
    Today, people put more faith in the doctor and medicine bottle, than in Jesus, even though He is the same yesterday, to day, and for ever.  And many who dare trust God for their healing, still want to have a back-up plan just in case God doesn’t come through for them.  So with a Bible in one hand, and a pill bottle in the other, they try to believe God will heal them.  And they become double-minded, wanting to trust God, but afraid to trust Him unconditionally.  And when the medicine fails to heal them, they will finally pray and hope for the best.  Now I finally understand why that plan usually fails.  And it may not be what you think it is at all!
    To understand why we often fail to receive the manifestation of healing, we have to go back to the day of our salvation.  We have already established that Jesus is the same yesterday, to day, and for ever.  By virtue of His unchanging nature, if He was moved with compassion to heal then, He will heal now, plain and simple, so there is no need to keep going back over that part. But we really need to look at Hebrews 10:1-23 to shed some light on this.  You see, there’s a sin problem that has to be dealt with before healing can occur, and this is where many stumble.  Read this passage very carefully, and I think you’ll see why.
 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
And having an high priest over the house of God;
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

   Now, I propose to you the reason many have difficulty receiving the manifestation of their healing is that they have never truly settled in their heart that their sins are ABSOLUTELY FORGIVEN!   The devil always comes to remind people of their sins, and once he has done so, he reminds them of their guilt.   As a result, grief sets in, and feelings of unworthiness come in like a flood.  We find ourselves constantly begging God to forgive our sins, when the Word says He has already done so!  Yet we somehow cannot seem to process that very important piece of information.  It’s like our eyes are blinded to the truth to the point that it keeps us from believing all the other promises in God’s Word.  And the result is, if we can’t believe it’s for us, we can’t have it.   After all, how could we, no matter how often we pray or go to church, no matter how much time we spend reading the Bible, could we ever be worthy that God would do ANYTHING for us?  The truth is, nothing we do or don’t do makes us worthy.  Could God, who is perfect and sinless, possibly be willing to overlook our sinful nature?  For a price.  And no, you don’t have enough to pay it.  However, God, knowing we could not possibly pay the price for our sins and still live to tell about it, sent His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus, to pay the price for us, that is, in our stead.  He paid that price on the cross ONE TIME FOR ALL TIME.
   What does that mean to you?  That means in simple terms, Jesus paid the debt, and you got off free.  He took all your sins, and God the Father sees all of your sins upon Jesus, and no longer on you.  So, can you look in the mirror and see yourself free from sin and guilt?  If not, there’s why you can’t get the manifestation of your healing!  You’re calling God a liar!  And you may not even realize you’re doing so, but guilt just won’t leave you alone.  Go all the way back to the cross if you need to, but lose the guilt!  God saw to it that Jesus took your guilt, get that settled NOW and be free!  God the Father placed man’s every sickness, every disease upon Jesus, and there is no new disease going around that is not already “under the blood of Jesus”.  That means just as surely as you are guilt-free, you are sickness-free.  Until you are able to see your sin and guilt where it belongs, upon Jesus, you will have great difficulty seeing your sickness upon Him, and as a result, you will still be walking around with it, if you’re walking at all.
   Once you’ve made the Lord Jesus your Lord and Savior, God’s forgiveness of your sins is absolute, unconditional, and is an ongoing process as long as you live.  The grace He gives you day by day will give you the power to overcome sin and turn from it, just as surely as it will keep sickness out of your life.  It starts with knowing you’re FORGIVEN!!!
